Port by 19 points Phil Herden In the 18 seasons, between 1994 and 2010, these two clubs won 14 premierships between them, now they are battling to stay relevant in the finals race. Port won their last encounter at Alberton, but prior to that Central has won the previous six at the ground and previous 13 overall. Whilst Port have had their moments with their season on the line the Bulldogs are due. They face a win-less Bulldogs outfit, coming off a break with the bye. The Bulldogs are bottom of the ladder and will be anxious to kick their season into gear. Both sides will be sweating on AFL selections and injury reports on underdone players. Will be interesting to see what type of reception Andrew Hayes faces, for the first time against his former club. While I’m not convinced on the form of either side, I can’t see the Dogs dropping their first five. EAGLES v SOUTH 2:10pm Sun May 5 @ Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval, Woodville EAGLES v SOUTH 2:10pm Sun May 5 @ Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval, Woodville DON COOPER’S PREVIEW PANEL PREDICTIONS Needless to say, it's a massive clash for both sides down at Oval Avenue on Sunday afternoon, when the Eagles play host to the Panthers in what has the potential to be a real shootout between the competitions two leading goal kickers, Michael Wundke (South) and Andrew Ainger (former South!). The latter has been in fine form since departing Noarlunga and would certainly like nothing more than to remind his old club of the damage he can do. While the former was solid as usual slotting four majors in the loss to the Roosters. The Eagles were in dazzling form last week against the Magpies and will be looking to continue that form on in front of their home crowd, who are enjoying a vastly different start to season 2013 than that of 2012. On the other hand though, the South Adelaide faithful are having to endure another season of sufferance at present, and will be looking to produce some more of their away match magic on the vast open spaces of Maughan Thiem Hyundai Oval. South will need to be more accountable than they have been though, allowing North Adelaide to get too much uncontested ball last week - and if there is a recurrence of that, then the Eagles will swoop with their runners and possess the artillery to finish that off with scoreboard pressure as well. So while the battle of the key forwards at opposite ends will be intriguing, the war will be won and lost with the midfield and running players, which are critical to taking control of a match at this ground. The Panthers have their usual workhorses of Cross, Stribling, Liddle and co, but the Eagles are starting to build on their renown players, with the likes of Jarred Allmond starting to find some real form and applying the type of pressure which can dismantle Ron Fuller's engine room. It is sure to be an entertaining match, but even with South Adelaide's ability to spring surprise wins against the tide, still favour the Eagles to prevail. They got the job done against the Magpies, with players like Matt Goldsworthy and Angus Rowntree growing as leaders. Craig Parry, along with fellow senior players like skipper, Luke Powell and Luke Jarrad have been in good form. There are hints of 2011 about how this side is developing. The first thing Ron Fuller must do is restore some confidence in his troops. There is talent and strength in ruck, along with a goal target in attack. Woodville West Torrens should drive another nail into the Panther's season 2013 coffin. Eagles by 27 points. Phil Herden With a 3-1 start the Eagles are off and flying, a stark contrast to what they went through last season. The best news for South is that they are back on the road, an experience they seem to find more successful than playing at home. South won last year at Woodville with Eagles claiming the previous seven at the ground. While South last week saw yet another disappointing home loss, this time at the hands of the Roosters. Hard to go past the Eagles, though I feel that South still have a lot left in them. Will also be great to see the battle of the Full Forwards, South's Michael Wundke and Eagle, and former Panther, Andrew Ainger. Eagles by 20 points Phil Aspinall Coming off a confidence boosting win on home soil, the Eagles again play host, to a Panthers outfit that is coming off yet another disappointing home defeat. Both sides have some class players, particularly in the midfield, while it will be a battle of the full forwards with Michael Wundke for South at one end and his former team mate, Andrew Ainger, down the other end. The visitors would consider themselves a chance because it is not being played at Noarlunga. Current form leads me towards to the hosts, but it is a game that could go either way for mine.
