REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT<br />
GIVEN THE UW’S reputation for public<br />
service, it should come as no surprise that<br />
four prominent leaders <strong>of</strong> Salt Lake City’s<br />
Rotary community-service organization<br />
are UW alumni.<br />
Wally Brown, ’63, ’73, and Jerry Summerhays,<br />
’73, who attended UW dental school<br />
at the same time, met up with Foster<br />
School graduate Eugene Banks, ’72, and<br />
Fred Berthrong, ’73, who has a degree in<br />
nuclear engineering, at Rotary meetings<br />
in Salt Lake City. And they have made<br />
quite a mark in the community. Besides<br />
serving as district governors for Rotary<br />
International—an organization <strong>of</strong> more<br />
than 34,000 clubs worldwide—the four<br />
UW grads have provide humanitarian service<br />
all over the globe and have become<br />
lifelong friends in the process.<br />
