2 012 年 是 高 中 新 舊 學 制 重 疊 的 一 年 , 為
應 付 「 雙 學 制 年 」 的 學 額 需 求 , 港 大 附
屬 學 院 提 供 多 元 升 學 出 路 予 應 屆 畢 業 生 , 包
括 副 學 士 、 高 級 文 憑 及 副 學 士 先 修 班 , 以 銜
接 本 地 或 海 外 學 位 課 程 。 港 大 附 屬 學 院 聯 同
香 港 大 學 專 業 進 修 學 院 轄 下 的 其 他 院 校 , 更
於 2 月 9 至 12 日 在 香 港 會 議 展 覽 中 心 舉 行 的 教
育 及 職 業 博 覽 中 , 為 學 生 、 家 長 及 老 師 提 供
課 程 資 料 , 即 場 並 有 專 人 解 答 查 詢 。
今 年 2 至 5 月 間 , 教 育 局 特 設 專 上 課 程 電 子 預 先 報
名 平 台 「E-APP」 讓 學 生 在 網 上 報 讀 經 本 地 評 審
的 副 學 位 及 非 聯 招 學 士 學 位 課 程 。 就 此 學 院 安 排
教 職 員 到 全 港 多 家 中 學 詳 盡 介 紹 課 程 內 容 及 報 名
細 節 ; 同 時 更 在 戶 外 媒 體 、 互 聯 網 及 電 子 通 訊 等
平 台 作 推 廣 宣 傳 , 以 帶 出 副 學 士 與 高 級 文 憑 可 協
助 同 學 在 學 問 或 專 業 領 域 上 開 創 新 出 路 的 訊 息 。
To enable senior secondary graduates in the double-cohort
year of 2012 to access opportunities for post-secondary study
which can later articulate to local or overseas degree programmes,
HKU SPACE Community College provides a variety of alternatives
for further studies. These include Associate Degree, Higher
Diploma, and Pre-associate Degree programmes. From 9 to 12
February 2012, the College joined hands with other HKU SPACE
colleges to participate in the Education & Careers Expo. To help
students better plan their studies, College staff were on site to
answer questions and help students to gather information about
education opportunities and career development.
The Education Bureau introduced “E-APP” this year — an internetbased
platform designed to help students submit advance applications
from February to May for locally-accredited sub-degree and bachelor
degree programmes not covered by the Joint University Programmes
Admissions System (JUPAS). The Community College sent teaching staff
and administrators out to secondary schools, and provided a thorough
introduction to programmes offered as well as the application procedures.
The College has also launched a series of multi-media promotional
activities using outdoor media, websites and e-direct mails to convey the
message of exploring new educational pathways through the College’s
Associate Degree and Higher Diploma programmes.

The College’s name and emblem
The Chinese name of the College “mingde 眀 徳 ” is derived from the
Chinese motto of the University of Hong Kong, “mingde gewu 眀 徳 格 物 ”
(“to manifest virtue and to investigate things”). It contains the meaning of
passing on the University’s founding spirit and quality education. “Mingde
gewu” are ancient characters which come from the Confucian classic, The
Great Learning《 大 學 》. That the Chinese character “ming” ( 眀 ) contains
an extra stroke, and the character “de” ( 徳 ) one stroke fewer than usual
is deliberate. The characters are written in the lishu ( 隸 書 ) calligraphic
style in vogue during the Han Dynasty, and which is still used for the
University’s formal inscriptions today. The English name “Centennial
College”, pays homage to its establishment which coincides with the
University of Hong Kong’s centenary and represents an educational
milestone in the new century.

Centennial College, the continuation
of a hundred years heritage
The establishment of the University of Hong Kong, the first tertiary institution, in
1911/12, marked a milestone in the history of Hong Kong education. In 2012, during
its centenary year, the University of Hong Kong announced the official establishment
of the Centennial College to cater for the educational needs of 21st century Hong
Kong. The launching ceremony of the College was held at the Rayson Huang Theatre,
the University of Hong Kong on 7 March, with the honourable presence of a hundred
guests from the government, the education and business sectors, and distinguished
members of the community.
The Story
The College’s philosophy is the aggregation of wisdom of the East and the West. The Confuscian
thinking of manifesting virtues to the full and cautious thinking with the spirit of inquiry, and the
liberal education advocated by the West are to be emphasised. Through a series of crossdisciplinary
courses, in-depth knowledge building and professional training, it is hoped to
broaden students’ horizons, helping them appreciate the beauty of different knowledge areas
and instilling in them a people-oriented spirit. As Mr. Linus Cheung, Chairman of the Board of
Governors said, “Through the emphasis on liberal education, the College hopes to develop
the younger generation into one that possesses the ability to communicate and solve, who are
willing to respect and appreciate different ideas and opinions, who have vision and the urge to
excel, and who can work for the a greater good of the society in various ways.”

「 眀 徳 學 院 」 中 「 眀 徳 」 二 字 , 取 自 香 港 大 學 校 訓 「 明 德 格 物 」, 具
傳 承 港 大 辦 學 理 念 及 優 質 教 育 的 含 義 。「 眀 徳 」 為 古 字 , 出 自 儒 家 經

The emblem is a combination of a golden lion and a shield design
derived from the ancient character of the word “ming 眀 ” which echoes
with the emblem design of the University of Hong Kong. The golden lion
symbolises “power, reputation and wisdom”. The turquoise shield is an
integration of the ancient Chinese character “ming 眀 ” ; its mixture of blue
and green represents Hong Kong Island and the sea. The shield, with
the golden lion signifying the College being located in Hong Kong, has
a global perspective.
To lay the foundation of self-financing higher
education
Being a member of The University of Hong Kong Group like HKU SPACE,
the Centennial College has taken up the responsibility of offering high
quality self-financing degree programmes. Under the Post-secondary
Colleges Ordinance (CAP 320), the College has successfully gained the
validation from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic
and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and will start offering fulltime,
four-year self-financing degree programmes from September this
year.

港 旅 客 將 增 至 5,700 萬 。 為 鞏 固 香 港 作 為 「 亞 洲
盛 事 之 都 」 的 地 位 , 政 府 正 積 極 舉 辦 各 項 精 采
節 目 , 以 吸 引 更 多 旅 客 及 延 長 其 留 港 時 間 。

Statistics from HKTB show that the annual
visitor arrivals passed the 41 million mark
in 2011, exceeding 2010 by 16.4%. Annual
visitors will reach 57 million by 2020 according
to forecasts. To maintain and reinforce Hong
Kong’s position as the Events Capital of
Asia, the Government has taken a proactive
approach in attracting more visitors by staging
world-class events with incentives to lengthen
their stay in Hong Kong.
With this growth, more professional event planners
are in demand in various positions to plan, organise
and stage mega events successfully. To echo this,
the HKU SPACE College of Business & Finance held
a forum on 13 January 2012 to unfold the secrets of
successful event planning to event planners.
Behind the scenes with event experts
Three distinguished guests invited to share their
experiences included Mr. Robbie McRobbie, Head
of Community & Development, Hong Kong Rugby
Football Union; Mrs. Lai Wong Yuen Lee, Former
Team Head of Operational Readiness Division of the
Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the
XXIX Olympiad Company Limited; and Ms Jasmine
Chan, Head of Operations, UBM Medica.
Mr. McRobbie started the session by shedding light
on the planning of the world-famous Hong Kong
Rugby Sevens. To him, one of the key success
factors is to keep close contact with co-organisers
at all stages of planning. It is also essential to pay
attention to details and maintaining a good time
management plan.
Mrs. Lai highlighted three mandatory elements for
effective risk management of large scale events.
They include designing and conducting readiness
exercises, testing contingency plans and carefully
setting an Operation Control Centre to handle crisis
at events in a smooth and effective manner.
Ms Chan said that the key to a successful event is to
have a thorough understanding of its characteristics
and objectives, both instrumental in making the event
highly attractive. Subsequently, events planners
need to monitor manpower and time requirements
closely. To pull over a mega-event successfully, Ms
Chan concluded by saying ‘Hire the right people who
have the professional skills in event planning and
place them in the right positions’

早 (Socrates) 創 先 以 提 問 方 式 啟 迪 學 生 ,
「 教 練 概 念 」 由 始 萌 起 。 教 練 會 與 對 象 建 立 互
信 , 並 以 欣 賞 的 態 度 及 前 瞻 的 對 話 , 協 助 對 方
瞭 解 自 身 的 優 點 與 限 制 , 從 而 釐 清 目 標 , 發 揮

The classical Greek philosopher Socrates
pioneered the concept of coaching.
He used questions as a way to inspire his
students way back in 469 BC. In coaching,
coaches build a relationship with coachees,
and then engage them in appreciative and
forward-focused conversations. In this way
coaches help coachees to understand their
own strengths and limitations, and set clear
objectives for personal growth and exploration
of their potential.
Professional coaching is no longer limited to sports.
There is personal coaching for achieving personal
objectives, corporate coaching for business targets,
and newly developed specialties such as executive
coaching, career coaching, and financial coaching.
The untapped potential of coaching
In the UK, US and Australia, a number of corporations
have established coaching cultures in their
operations. Coaching is in wide use and has
developed as a profession over more than 20 years.
In Asia, many multinational corporations have applied
coaching in management and human resource
development, including IBM, Ernst & Young, and
DHL, etc. As a profession, coaching has tremendous

potential. It may be second only to the IT industry as
one of the most up-and-coming professions.
Since it was introduced to Hong Kong in the 90s,
coaching has become an emerging management
tool and a sizeable professional service industry.
There are more than 100 local and expatriate
coaches practising in Hong Kong, who mainly
serve the local offices of multinational corporations
in Asia and Greater China. Local enterprises and
non-governmental organisations (NGO) and public
utilities are still exploring possible implementation,
so there is tremendous potential in these market
segments.
On 18 February, HKU SPACE held “Speed Coaching
Day 2012” aiming at people who are interested in
enhancing work efficiency, improving management, and
increasing productivity. Professor Tatiana Bachkirova
of Oxford Brookes University and Ms Carole Lewis,
Acting President, Hong Kong International Coaching
Community (HKICC) were guest speakers for the day.
Besides the six thematic workshops on coaching, we
also provided 30-min 1-on-1 coaching session for 38
participants. The workshops were well received by
almost 200 attendees.

Nurses in the health care system in Hong Kong
today take up a more challenging role than
ever before. The increasing expectations on
the profession call for sophisticated knowledge
and skills in conducting nursing screening and
assessment as well as other supportive nursing
care. Only through continuing education on multi-
specialty nursing practice can practitioners gear
up for the growing demand on the profession.
In light of this, HKU SPACE has introduced
a series of Postgraduate Certificate courses
covering specialities in the areas of clinical
pharmacology, renal nursing, family mental
health care and Chinese medicine nursing. These
courses enable students to gain insights and
professional knowledge on specific health issues
and skills, and prepare them for further career

The rapid economic development in Mainland China
has led to an increase in listings, acquisitions and
mergers. The high demand for accountants is also a
result of the growth of trade activities between Hong
Kong and the Mainland. To cater for such demand,
HKU SPACE has offered several accounting
programmes accredited by the Hong Kong Institute of
Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). Graduates of
these programmes can enroll as student members of
the Institute and complete its Qualification Programme
(QP) to become certified public accountants in Hong
Kong (CPAs).

Chinese calligraphy and painting has been
a valuable cultural heritage. To promote the
traditional Chinese art and culture, HKU SPACE
is offering new programmes including History
of Chinese Calligraphy II: The Spirit of Ink and
Brush and the Art of Elite, Diploma in Chinese
Calligraphy, and Diploma in Chinese Painting.
These programmes cover theories of calligraphy
and painting, appreciation and skill training.
Focus will be given to the development and
evolution of calligraphy and painting in different
dynasties so as to help students to a greater
appreciation for our cultural treasures.

To be able to master foreign languages will give
individuals a competitive edge in a metropolitan city
such as Hong Kong. In light of this, HKU SPACE
designed a series of language programmes for
your choice. There are custom-made Putonghua
programmes catering for the specific needs in
different trades and sectors. Korean pop culture is
all the rage in Asia, therefore the School has various
Korean programmes on offer for students to learn the
language. Other practical language courses such as
Japanese, Vietnamese and English are also included.
Some of them are instructed in languages other than
Chinese to cater for the demand for language courses
from non-Chinese students.

Thomas Sevcik 任 教 , 藉 探 討 不 同 個 案 , 剖 析 國
際 都 市 如 何 展 現 其 歷 史 文 化 、 回 應 政 經 發 展 演 變
而 成 的 獨 特 城 市 空 間 , 以 及 箇 中 成 敗 關 鍵 。
由 於 去 年 反 應 熱 烈 ,CIDP 於 同 月 再 度 推 出 「 尊 貴

創 意 產 業 人 士 報 讀 。

In 2011, the HKU SPACE Centre for
International Degree Programmes (CIDP),
in collaboration with Central Saint Martins
College of Arts and Design (CSM), started
offering executive courses in Hong Kong. Both
institutions invited seasoned lecturers from
London and Hong Kong to teach the executive
classes, with delegates from media, arts,
communications and the creative industries
in Hong Kong and Greater China. This year,
CIDP once again collaborated with CSM to
launch a series of three-day executive courses.
Participants are able to interact with creative
gurus and at the same time broaden their
international networks.
City Branding
It is not uncommon to see many world cities share
similar landscapes. Perhaps there is too much
emphasis on the elements of modern design and
architecture, such as looking good, environmentally
friendly or advanced. In order to help participants
think out of the box, HKU SPACE and CSM launched
a new course called “City Branding” in March.
Thomas Sevcik, a seasoned space consultant,
used case studies and an analytical approach to
examine how world cities create unique identity
and demonstrate their history, culture, and socioeconomic
development. The course also helped
participants to identify the keys to success in city
branding.
In response to the enthusiastic feedback last year,
CIDP re-ran the course “Luxury Brand Positioning”
in March. Based on last year’s curriculum, new case
studies were added. The course attracted brand
managers, corporate communications and business
development executives as well as merchandisers
who were looking for expansion into the premium
sector.
In mid-July and late August, we will offer two new
courses:
Fashion Promotion
This course will offer a thorough overview on how to
promote trendy products to become an iconic brand
in the market. Lecturer Erica Charles has extensive
experience in the fashion and luxury industry. She
will use international case studies to inspire young
designers of fashion and local brands, retailers of
fashion or fashion-related industries, merchandisers
as well as marketing and PR executives.
In this course, participants will learn how to master
the interaction between fashion products and the
target audience, understand the promotion cycle of
fashion products, and develop effective promotional
plans in a competitive market.

Entrepreneurship for Creatives
Instead of the theoretical approach usually adopted
in other executive training courses, CSM lecturer
Paul Sturrock will show participants how to apply
innovative design-led thinking in understanding
business solutions. He will also coach participants
on how to iterate prototype products/ services
and business models through experimentation.
This course is most suitable for creative industry
executives.

uring the move of the Government
Headquarters late last year, a large
quantity of government records were reported
destroyed. The issues of public records are
normally not a popular topic among people,
but now their management and preservation
have aroused public interest and concern.
Mr. Simon Chu, former Government Records
Service Director, who has been promoting the
professionalisation of Records Management,
will take this opportunity to analyse the
importance of managing records.
Records – good governance and
collective memories
“To a government (or to any organisation),
manpower, capital and records are vital and
indispensable resources for its operation. Records
are documents created and then kept as evidence
when an organisation conducts its business,
develops its policy and implements its programmes.
Having a good record management system will
not only facilitate administration, it also ensures
accountability. As for government records, they
also constitute an essential component of the
community’s collective memories and cultural
heritage. Most jurisdictions in the world have enacted
an archives law to protect their public records. Hong
Kong is still one of the rare exceptions that lacks
such a law to regulate the management of and to
protect its public records,” said Chu.
The recent massive destruction of government
records has aroused public debate on the need
for the enactment of an archives law. Under such
a law, government or public bodies are, first of all,
required to create records for their official activities
and business, to manage them properly and to
have the records transferred to the government
archives for appraisal after their use. For those
records appraised to have historical value, they will
be kept permanently in the archives as part of our
documentary and cultural heritage.
Mr. Chu spares no effort to promote records and
archives management and to advocate for an
archives legislation in Hong Kong. Apart from his
years of participation in a number of international
documentary heritage and conservation projects,
he has recently been appointed as a councilor in
the National Committee for Documentary Heritage
Programme of China, filling the place vacated by the
demise of Professor Ji Xianlin .
A curriculum blended with theories
and experience
In his capacity as the Secretary General of the
East Asian Regional Branch of the International
Council on Archives (EASTICA), Mr. Chu has
since 2000 worked with HKU SPACE in organising
a number of professional records and archives
management courses which are taught and
conducted by celebrated local and international
experts. Many students of these programmes are
serving archivists or records managers coming
from national or territorial archival institutions or
corporations in various parts of Asia. In view of the
increasing awareness of the importance of records
management, Mr. Chu and the School will continue
to design and develop programmes catering to the
different needs of the community.

府 足 利 義 政 將 軍 建 立 。 足 利 常 於 寺 內 與 武 家 、
公 家 、 禪 僧 舉 行 茶 道 、 花 道 及 香 道 等 聚 會 , 逐
漸 形 成 獨 特 的 「 東 山 文 化 」, 對 日 後 之 日 本 文
化 影 響 深 遠 。 本 學 院 與 銀 閣 寺 、 港 大 佛 學 研 究
中 心 、 港 大 美 術 博 物 館 於 2011 年 12 月 聯 合 舉
辦 了 一 連 兩 天 的 「 銀 閣 ( 慈 照 ) 寺 東 山 文 化 講
座 」, 介 紹 日 本 佛 教 歷 史 和 儀 式 , 以 及 日 本 傳

In the 14th century, Gingaku Ji (Silver Pavilion),
was built by Captain Ashikaga Yoshimasa of the
Morumachi Shogunate. The Captain practised
Chadou (Japanese tea ceremony), Ikebana
(flower arrangement) and Kodou (incense
ceremony) with members from Kuge (aristocratic
class) and Buke (armed nobility) and monks on
a regular basis. Much of what is commonly seen
today as traditional Japanese culture originated
from this “Culture of Higashiyama”. HKU SPACE,
Gingaku Ji, the Centre of Buddhist Studies, and
the University Museum and Art Gallery jointly
presented a two-day seminar about the Culture
of Higashiyama. The seminar introduced Buddhist
history and rituals in Japan, as well as Japanese
traditional culture which includes Chadou, Ikebana,
vegetarian food and embroidery, etc. Takahashi
Takuji, third generation owner of Kinobu, the
renowned Japanese Kaiseki restaurant in Kyoto,
shipped ingredients from Japan to serve seminar
participants with fresh Goma Tofu.

This spring, HKU SPACE proudly presents
“A Musical Spring”, bringing you smash-hit
Broadway musicals. The school version of the
70’s musical hit, Grease produced by Ms Agatha
Tsui Wai Yee and Mr. Daniel Pun Hoi Yat, and
performed by HKU SPACE Community College
Choir will be staged in the Hong Kong Cultural
Centre on 8 April. Soprano Rao Lan, tenor
Sam Kan and bass Jimmy Chan will sing songs
from Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and Man
from La Mancha. Professor Gabriel M. Leung,
Director of the Chief Executive’s Office, will be
the conductor of the evening. The Hong Kong
Children Chamber Ensemble will perform Aaron
Copland’s pastoral Appalachian Spring.
本 學 院 為 弘 揚 中 國 書 學 精 神 , 不 但 推 出 中 國 書
法 文 憑 等 相 關 課 程 , 更 於 今 年 1 月 一 連 四 日 假
香 港 大 會 堂 舉 行 「 第 七 屆 中 國 書 法 文 憑 課 程 畢
業 作 品 展 」。 是 次 展 出 了 葉 民 任 、 區 大 為 、 陳
華 煜 、 戚 谷 華 、 唐 錦 騰 、 容 浩 然 等 六 位 導 師 及
18 名 學 員 共 50 多 幅 作 品 。 展 覽 作 品 除 包 括 不 同
的 書 體 風 格 , 更 有 演 繹 佛 經 道 理 、 體 現 陰 陽 概
念 , 及 靈 活 運 用 空 間 對 比 的 篆 刻 作 品 。 開 幕 典
禮 當 日 更 邀 得 香 港 藝 術 館 總 館 長 鄧 海 超 先 生 、
本 學 院 藝 術 及 設 計 首 席 課 程 主 任 陳 永 華 教 授 和
本 學 院 客 席 教 授 、 中 國 藝 術 課 程 策 劃 暨 課 程 統
籌 葉 民 任 先 生 聯 同 主 禮 。
The School has always strived to promote the
art of Chinese calligraphy by offering a wide
range of Chinese calligraphy courses. It further
introduces the art to the public by showcasing
the magnificent works of the School’s instructors
and students. A four-day exhibition was held
for the works of the 7th diploma graduates of
Chinese Calligraphy in the Hong Kong City Hall
in January 2012. There were over 50 exhibits
by our six instructors Mr. Yip Man-yam, Mr. Ou
Da-wei, Mr. Chan Wah-yuk, Mr. Chik Kwokwah,
Prof. Tong Kam-tang, Mr. Yung Ho-yin and
18 students. Besides highlighting a variety of
calligraphic styles, the exhibition also showcased
seal engraving works, illustrating Buddhist
theories and the concept of yin and yang. It was
officiated by Mr. Tang Hoi-chiu, Chief Curator of
the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Professor Chan
Wing-wah, Principal Programme Director of HKU
SPACE, and Mr. Yip Man-yam, adjunct professor
and Chinese art programme organiser of HKU
SPACE.

(Edinburgh Napier University), 自 2000 年 起
與 香 港 大 學 專 業 進 修 學 院 金 融 商 業 學 院 合 辦 多
個 課 程 。 為 慶 祝 合 作 逾 十 載 , 及 讓 有 志 進 修 人
士 瞭 解 各 項 課 程 , 特 於 2 月 10 日 聯 合 舉 辦 《 十
載 ‧ 濃 情 「 龍 」 程 專 題 講 座 - 英 國 愛 丁 堡 龍 比
亞 大 學 》。 當 日 共 有 三 個 不 同 主 題 講 座 , 分 別
為 「 金 融 及 財 富 管 理 」、「 節 日 及 盛 事 的 市 場
推 廣 和 管 理 」 及 「 領 導 及 管 理 」。 學 院 更 於 專
題 講 座 前 舉 行 以 蘇 格 蘭 為 主 題 的 新 春 酒 會 , 讓
在 場 人 士 有 機 會 品 嚐 蘇 格 蘭 著 名 威 士 忌 , 並 透
過 音 樂 、 傳 統 服 飾 、 食 物 及 旅 遊 資 訊 等 進 一 步
瞭 解 蘇 格 蘭 特 色 。
Edinburgh Napier University and HKU SPACE
College of Business and Finance have been
offering joint programmes since 2000. To
commemorate the collaboration for more than a
decade, an information session and professional
seminars were organised on 10 February 2012
to introduce the programmes offered by both
Edinburgh Napier University and the College. A
total of three parallel professional seminars were
conducted free of charge, including Finance
and Wealth Management, Marketing and
Management of Festivals & Events, together with
Leadership and Management. A Scottish-themed
spring reception was held before the Information
Session. By introducing famous Scotch whisky,
Scottish music, costume and travel information,
attendees enjoyed the real “Taste of Scotland”.

者 的 人 士 提 供 個 別 專 業 輔 導 , 並 向 投 資 者 作 推
薦 。 講 座 以 互 動 形 式 進 行 , 參 加 者 踴 躍 發 問 ,
尤 對 如 何 成 立 社 會 企 業 及 其 運 作 感 興 趣 , 並 從
中 取 得 寶 貴 建 議 。 學 院 於 本 季 推 出 的 相 關 課
程 , 包 括 「 創 業 及 商 業 創 新 深 造 文 憑 」, 以 及
與 社 會 創 業 論 壇 合 辦 的 ”Executive Workshop:
Who wants to be a social entrepreneur” 短 期

2012, HKU SPACE organised a free interactive
workshop for potential social entrepreneurs.
Conducted by Dr. K. K. Tse, Chairperson of the
Hong Kong Social Entrepreneurship Forum,
the informative workshop was designed to
provide individual and professional counselling
to future social entrepreneurs as well as make
recommendations to potential investors.
Seminar participants were particularly interested
in the way of establishing a social enterprise
and its operations. In this coming spring, HKU
SPACE will offer a variety of programmes on
social entrepreneurship, including “Postgraduate
Diploma in Entrepreneurship and Business
Innovations”, and “Executive Workshop: Who
wants to be a social entrepreneur” which is a
short course in collaboration with the Hong Kong
Social Entrepreneurship Forum.
1999 年 立 法 會 通 過 《 中 醫 藥 條 例 》, 並 正 式
成 立 「 中 醫 藥 管 理 委 員 會 」, 規 範 香 港 中 醫
藥 的 發 展 , 中 醫 備 受 重 視 , 並 愈 見 普 及 。 為
加 深 大 眾 對 中 醫 的 瞭 解 , 提 倡 「 防 未 病 」 的
概 念 , 本 學 院 與 香 港 公 共 圖 書 館 合 辦 一 系 列
「 中 醫 藥 與 健 康 生 活 講 座 」。 講 座 於 2012
年 每 月 輪 流 在 全 港 不 同 地 區 的 公 共 圖 書 館 舉
行 , 由 本 學 院 中 醫 藥 學 學 部 教 授 主 講 , 包 括
教 授 劉 玉 萍 博 士 、 張 群 湘 博 士 及 趙 立 岩 副 教
授 等 。 講 座 涵 蓋 內 容 廣 泛 , 從 隱 形 殺 手 冠 心
病 、 到 防 治 哮 喘 鼻 敏 感 的 天 灸 療 法 、 女 士 們
趨 之 若 鶩 的 針 刺 美 容 , 以 至 中 藥 養 生 等 。
With the passing of the Chinese Medicine
Ordinance in 1999 by the Legislative Council
and the setting up of the Chinese Medicine
Council of Hong Kong to regulate the
development of Chinese medicine, Chinese
medicine has become a more popular choice
in the community. In order to deepen people’s
understanding of the practice and promote its
disease prevention concept, HKU SPACE and
the Hong Kong Public Libraries are holding a
series of health talks called “A Healthy Life with
Chinese Medicine”. These talks run monthly
in public libraries of various districts, and are
conducted by professors of our Division of
Chinese Medicine, which include Dr. Y. P. Liu,
Dr. K. S. Cheung, and Ms. L. Y. Zhao. The talks
cover a wide range of health issues ranging
from coronary disease, Tian Jiu treatment for
prevention of asthma and allergic rhinitis and
acupuncture for beauty to Chinese medicine
health promotion.

本 學 院 校 友 會 於 2011 年 11 月 29 日 舉 行 了 第 七
屆 會 員 周 年 大 會 , 共 有 26 名 遴 選 會 員 、 永 久 會
員 及 嘉 賓 出 席 。 是 次 大 會 通 過 5 名 委 員 會 會 員
繼 續 連 任 , 分 別 為 何 永 釗 教 授 、 郭 昶 先 生 、 黎
沛 言 女 士 、 湯 棋 淯 女 士 及 黃 美 慧 女 士 。 大 會 亦
再 次 委 任 潘 堅 榮 先 生 和 劉 俊 豪 先 生 分 別 出 任 校
友 會 義 務 核 數 師 和 義 務 法 律 顧 問 。
隨 着 第 七 屆 校 友 會 委 員 會 成 立 , 校 友 會 在 會 長
陳 達 文 博 士 的 帶 領 , 並 得 到 一 群 熱 心 校 友 和 社
會 賢 達 的 支 持 下 , 定 能 茁 壯 成 長 , 進 一 步 推 動
終 身 學 習 的 精 神 。
The 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the
HKU SPACE ALUMNI was held on 29 November
2011. It was attended by 26 Voting Members,
Life Members and other guests. Five Council
Officers were re-elected in the AGM, namely
Professor Stephen Ho, Mr. Anthony Kwok, Ms
Ody Lai, Ms Judy Tong and Ms Esther Wong,
while Mr. Kenneth Poon and Mr. Derek Lau were
re-appointed as Honorary Auditor and Honorary
Legal Advisor respectively.
The new Council under the leadership of the
President, Dr. Darwin Chen, together with the
staunch support from alumni and community
leaders, with this united strength the ALUMNI will
continue to head towards the goal of fostering a
culture of lifelong learning in Hong Kong.
繼 北 京 、 上 海 後 , 香 港 大 學 專 業 進 修 學 院 廣 東
校 友 會 亦 已 於 2011 年 12 月 成 立 。 該 會 共 有 三 個
分 支 , 包 括 廣 東 校 友 會 、 整 合 行 銷 傳 播 及 組 織
與 人 力 資 源 管 理 。 截 至 2012 年 1 月 底 , 在 短 短
兩 個 月 內 參 加 人 數 已 逾 110 名 。
廣 東 校 友 會 將 定 期 舉 辦 講 座 , 邀 請 傑 出 校 友 和
企 業 家 會 員 分 享 及 交 流 。 首 屆 會 長 李 泊 霆 先 生
表 示 , 希 望 通 過 廣 東 校 友 會 , 為 校 友 提 供 一 個
知 識 交 流 的 平 台 , 維 繫 校 友 間 珍 貴 友 誼 , 同 時
鼓 勵 校 友 終 身 學 習 、 參 與 公 益 事 業 , 以 回 饋
社 會 。
Subsequent to the formation of HKU SPACE
subject alumni groups in Beijing and Shanghai,
Guangdong also established its own in
December 2011. Under its umbrella, there
are three divisions, namely Guangdong
Alumni Association, Integrated Marketing
Communication, and Organisation and Human
Resources Management. As of end-January
2012, the number of members passed 110 in just
two months.
The Guangdong Alumni Association will hold
talks and seminars on a regular basis by inviting
distinguished alumni and members to share
their experiences. Founding President Mr. Li Bo
Ting said that the group provides a platform for
knowledge sharing and friendships building in the
hope of encouraging alumni to practise lifelong
learning and give back to society.
本 學 院 的 附 屬 校 友 組 織 ─ 公 共 關 係 及 企 業 傳 播
校 友 會 (PRCC) 聯 同 學 院 校 友 會 組 成 50 多 人 的
義 工 團 , 於 2011 年 11 月 27 日 為 《 聯 合 國 兒 童 基
金 會 慈 善 跑 2011》 擔 任 義 工 。 是 次 活 動 是 全 港
第 二 大 規 模 的 長 跑 賽 事 , 吸 引 逾 13,000 名 跑 手
參 加 , 共 籌 得 超 過 港 幣 850 萬 元 善 款 , 以 支 援 發
展 中 國 家 的 愛 滋 病 項 目 及 協 助 推 行 預 防 母 嬰 傳 染
愛 滋 病 的 工 作 。 雖 然 活 動 籌 備 需 要 通 宵 進 行 , 但
仍 無 損 PRCC 會 員 及 校 友 會 一 班 義 工 的 熱 誠 , 以
行 動 宣 揚 關 愛 社 會 的 訊 息 。
On 27 November 2011, more than 50 volunteers from
Public Relations and Corporate Communications
Alumni (PRCC), a subject alumni group of HKU
SPACE, and HKU SPACE ALUMNI took part in a
meaningful event - UNICEF Charity Run 2011. Being
the second largest distance running event in Hong
Kong, the UNICEF Charity Run was attended by
over 13,000 runners, which raised HK$8.5 million for
UNICEF’s “Unite for Children - Unite against AIDS”,
a global campaign for prevention of mother-to-child
HIV transmission in developing countries. Despite
the fact that the volunteers stayed up overnight for
preparation, they ran with passion and enthusiasm
to promote love and care for society.
