2.43 Feasibility Study<br />

2.4.3.1 From data collected as mentioned in paragraph 2.4.1.2 above the following feasibility<br />

studies can be carried out for cost/benefit consideration :-<br />

(i) Traffic volume studies to estimate the flows and turning movements<br />

(ii) Speed and delay studies in both peak and off peak periods<br />

(Hi) Traffic signal studies (Ref. TPDM Vol. 4)<br />

(iv) Loading/parking studies (Ref. TPDM Vol. 7)<br />

(v) Capacity analysis (Ref. TPDM Vol. 2 & 4)<br />

(vi) Estimation of added travel distance in network<br />

(vii) Public transport routeing and stops<br />

(viii) Movement of emergency vehicles<br />

(ix) Possible effect on business<br />

(x) Accident (type, frequency, severity)<br />

(xi) Pedestrian movement<br />

(xii) Cost of implementation, operation and maintenance.<br />

2.43.2 As the above are generally applicable to most traffic management measures, detailed<br />

descriptions of the feasibility study techniques are not given here. Reference should be<br />

made to other chapters in this volume and also Volume 8 of the TPDM.
