Kemppi ProNews updated EDITORIAL You are currently reading the new Kemppi Oy ProNews customer newsletter. We updated the newsletter to provide a more clearly formatted welding industry trade journal. Kemppi ProNews will continue to present new products, product updates and our services. We will make every effort to provide a more practical presentation of our work results, as well as survey user opinions of them. We want to draw more attention to solutions for different fields on which our customers the world over have given their views. The purpose is to provide information on projects done in co-operation with Kemppi as well as their challenges, goals and realisation. Customer-specific examples contain fresh ideas and practical models for the utilisation of Kemppi products and services. A significant part of our newsletter’s content will also include welding technology and related welding processes. We will continue to provide information on the development of various welding methods and the results of our own welding research. In this way, we will hopefully be able to help our customers find more productive ways to tackle welding challenges for their own needs. We consolidated our news bulletins for easier access. A concise Q&A column does just what its name says: we will publish frequently asked questions and the answers to them. Design plays a crucial role in Kemppi’s R&D. It does not only comprehend design, but also usability and high quality. Kemppi ProNews focuses on Kemppi design details as well as how it can be utilised in everyday welding work. Kemppi design was rewarded in February with the receipt of the internationally prestigious red dot design award for its Minarc- Mig Adaptive 180. The red dot award is the recognition of exceptionally high-quality product design by an international panel of experts. In 2005 the competition received 2,068 product entries from over 40 countries. 485 of these entries received red dot awards. The MinarcMig Adaptive 180 was entered in the Industry and Crafts category. The red dot competition is very tough, as the world’s top corporations, from ABB to Volkswagen, are represented. Generally, the only entries submitted to the competition are products which are considered to be innovative in their respective fields and which have a specific novelty value. Previous Finnish recipients of the red dot award are Nokia and Fiskars. As the saying goes, a rolling stone gathers no moss. This is why we would like you, the reader, to provide us with your input for our newsletter’s content. We eagerly await your opinions on our newsletter update, so that we may always find new ways to do things.
