Boot Camps and Personal Training<br />

BEGINNER BOOT CAMP FOR WOMEN<br />

Just what you have asked for, a boot camp for women<br />

only! This beginner boot camp is for the baby boomer<br />

who hasn’t been exercising and needs to get a total<br />

body conditioning program in a non-competitive environment.<br />

The program will include various forms of<br />

non-impact aerobics, resistance training, stretching<br />

and Pilates. This class will meet at Northwest Park’s<br />

new aerobics and wellness room. Each class will be<br />

different from the last. All classes will be held indoors.<br />

Location: Northwest Park Activity Room<br />

Ages: 41 and older<br />

Session I: M/W, 1/9-2/15, 7-8 p.m.<br />

Session II: M/W, 3/6-4/10, 7-8 p.m.<br />

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING EVENINGS<br />

This one day per week program will include an orientation<br />

to our cardio equipment, free weights, weight<br />

machines and also instruction to stretching and toning<br />

techniques. In addition, your trainer will develop a personalized<br />

program for you to assist in obtaining a consistent<br />

workout schedule leading you to a healthier<br />

lifestyle.<br />

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING LUNCH TIME<br />

Re-energize yourself mid day twice per week by<br />

participating in this small group training program for<br />

boomers. Those looking for a little extra attention will<br />

get a customized workout plan developed for beginner<br />

through advanced enthusiast. This program will<br />

enable you to work out at the gym or home.<br />

Assessments will be done during the first class.<br />

Social Adventure<br />

BABY BOOMER WINTER<br />

OUTDOOR SOCIAL ADVENTURE<br />

Trek through snow at some of Manchester’s most<br />

scenic trails. Meet other boomers for a great workout!<br />

This adventurous program will include two weeks of<br />

each of the following, weather and snow depth permitting:<br />

hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing.<br />

Equipment not provided.<br />

Age: 41 and older<br />

Meets: T, 1/17-2/28, 12 noon-1:15 p.m.<br />

DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST<br />

This trip includes a delicious pre-show buffet lunch at<br />

the Cornucopia in Torrington, CT, followed by reserved<br />

orchestra seating for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at<br />

the Warner Theatre also in Torrington. Buffet includes:<br />

garden tossed salad, baked stuffed sole, chicken piccata,<br />

stuffed shells, vegetable, potato, fruit salad,<br />

desserts and beverage.<br />

MAGNIFICENT CHERRY BLOSSOMS<br />

BROOKLYN BOTANIC GARDEN<br />

Experience a great Spring day in the 52 acre Brooklyn<br />

Botanic Garden. This peak blooming time for over 200<br />

dazzling trees along Cherry Esplanade, meandering<br />

along Cherry Walk, graceful sweeps of weeping cherries<br />

in the Japanese Garden. The most showy Prunus<br />

Kanzan have double pink, almost magenta, extravagant<br />

blossoms hanging in clusters of 2-5 flowers. We’ll<br />

be walking through a fairy tale experience. The<br />

Brooklyn Botanical Garden has many different gardens.<br />

There is so much to see. Time to shop in the gift<br />

shop. Dinner stop en route at Raceway Diner in<br />

Yonkers (on your own).<br />

BOOMER SPRING TENNIS<br />

CHALLENGE LADDER MIXED DOUBLES<br />

It’s for everyone<br />

The Boomer Spring Tennis Challenge Ladder is for all<br />

tennis players novice to serious. Players can meet<br />

and play other tennis enthusiasts with comparable<br />

skills. Whether you play only occasionally, just for fun,<br />

or compete hard several times a week, you can meet<br />

others at your level and passion for tennis.<br />

It’s Convenient<br />

The ladder is run and administered entirely over the<br />

Web and via e-mail. You can enter match scores,<br />

review ladder standings, learn the previous match<br />

results of your opponents and read their player<br />

profiles at any time.<br />

It’s Challenging<br />

You will have the opportunity to improve your game by<br />

challenging new opponents who are slightly more<br />

advanced or who play the game with new styles and<br />

strategies.<br />

CALLING ALL BOOMERS<br />

FOR SUMMER 6 VS 6<br />

COED SAND VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE<br />

The <strong>Recreation</strong> Department is planning to develop<br />

a summer sand volleyball league early evenings for<br />

boomers at Northwest Park in Manchester. The league<br />

will run with a minimum of four teams and a maximum<br />

of eight teams. At this time, the <strong>Recreation</strong><br />

Department is trying to determine the interest in this<br />

league. If you or others you know are interested, contact<br />

the <strong>Recreation</strong> Department at 647-3084 and leave<br />

your name and contact information. If enough interest<br />

is generated, the department will pilot a summer<br />

program and develop plans to offer an indoor<br />

program in the Fall of 2006.<br />
