WINTER WONDERLAND FEBRUARY VACATION<br />

Warm cozy stories on cold blustery days. Creative<br />

crafty projects and new hobbies to take home! Little<br />

hands will keep busy this vacation break with favorite<br />

new memories as well as a bundle of crafty creations.<br />

Kids will share their favorite winter books or stories<br />

and the class will participate in a fun group project!<br />

FANTASTIC CREATURES<br />

Whether they fly, swim, breathe fire or do all three,we<br />

will create our own fantasy creatures unique to our<br />

imaginations. Each week we will take our creature one<br />

step further into a world of its own. We will create not<br />

only our creature, using a variety of crafting materials,<br />

but the fantasy world it lives in and finally, a storybook<br />

to introduce this new being to our world!<br />

Special Events and Programs<br />

SANTA CALLS<br />

The <strong>Recreation</strong> Department is assisting Santa in contacting<br />

all of his little friends ages 8 and under. Santa<br />

will be contacting participants on Friday, December 2,<br />

between 4-7 p.m. Parents may pick up a participation<br />

form at the Center Springs <strong>Recreation</strong> Office, located<br />

at 39 Lodge Drive. All forms must be returned by<br />

Thursday, December 1st at 1 p.m.<br />

VISITS WITH SANTA<br />

Enjoy a day of snacks, hot chocolate, face painting,<br />

crafts and visits with Santa.<br />

Date: Saturday, December 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.<br />

Location: Mary Cheney Library, Main St.<br />

Fee: No charge, residents only<br />

ICE SKATING PARTY, FAMILY FUN NIGHT<br />

Ice skate to the music provided by “Into the Groove”<br />

DJ Dale Griffith. Fun for everyone! All ages welcome.<br />

Bring your chairs to sit and rest by the campfire. Make<br />

s’mores and sip on delicious hot chocolate. Special<br />

visit by our Healthier U Mascot, “Otto B. Fit”. Please<br />

pre-register by phone by calling 647-3084 or<br />

Location: Charter Oak Park Skating Rink<br />

THE NEWINGTON CHILDREN’S THEATRE COMPANY PRESENTS<br />

THE MUSICAL PRODUCTION OF OZ<br />

The Manchester <strong>Recreation</strong> Department in conjunction<br />

with Cheney Hall are hosting the Musical Production<br />

of Oz! This 90 minute production of the timeless<br />

“Wizard of Oz” tale has been adapted into a dazzling<br />

musical based on L. Frank Baum’s classic story.<br />

Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Center<br />

Springs <strong>Recreation</strong> Office, 39 Lodge Drive or at<br />

Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road. Tickets will be available<br />

beginning January 2, 2006.<br />

Date: Sunday, April 23, 1-2:30 p.m. or 4-5:30 p.m.<br />

Location: Cheney Hall, 177 Hartford Road<br />

Fee: $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors<br />

HERSHEY NATIONAL TRACK & FIELD<br />

This program emphasizes the friendship, sportsmanship,<br />

and the physical exercise aspect of track and<br />

field as much if not more than the competition. All participants<br />

must pre-register for the meet. Registration<br />

forms will be available through the Physical Education<br />

Department at the Manchester Schools and at all<br />

<strong>Recreation</strong> Department Offices beginning in April.<br />

Location: Manchester High School Track<br />

Ages: Residents born between 1992-1997<br />

Date of track meet: Early May, 2006<br />

ICE SKATING LESSONS<br />

Bolton Figure Skating Club (BFSC) participates in<br />

the "Skate with Us" program designed to teach the<br />

fundamentals of skating in a friendly atmosphere.<br />

Classes are held at Bolton Ice Palace and are open<br />

to Manchester residents. Sessions are 8 weeks in<br />

length and continue throughout the year.<br />

Preschoolers have a 30-minute group lesson;<br />

school age students, teens, and adults have a<br />

30-minute small group lesson and a 30-minute practice<br />
