Clubs & Groups (cont.)<br />

SENIOR CIRCLE<br />

This group meets twice per week for a variety of activities<br />

such as crafts, games, gentle exercise, holiday<br />

celebrations, reminiscing and more, led by a therapeutic<br />

recreation specialist and a program coordinator.<br />

This group requires pre-registration and a personal<br />

interview with senior center staff. This is not a drop-in<br />

program. For additional information on this program<br />

contact the Senior Center Social Worker, Sue<br />

Bernstein at 647-3211.<br />

ROYAL SCARLET GADABOUTS<br />

Our local chapter of the Red Hat Society, a group of<br />

women age 50 and over gather monthly to enjoy<br />

middle age with verve, humor and elan. New members<br />

welcome. Group meets on the first Tuesday of<br />

the month in the Senior Center Library.<br />

AARP DRIVER'S EDUCATION CLASS<br />

A refresher for motorists age 50 and over. Learn to<br />

avoid hazards and adopt new safe driving techniques.<br />

Two day class held monthly. Participants who complete<br />

the course are eligible for a 10% reduction in<br />

auto insurance. Call the Senior Center for dates.<br />

The Senior Center offers many opportunities to play<br />

cards and a variety of games during the day, evenings<br />

and weekends. The following is a brief listing of the<br />

programs with specific information. Interested participants<br />

may join at any time. Call the Senior Center<br />

SAFE SURFING<br />

The internet can be a scary place. This class will<br />

teach you how to keep your computer virus free.<br />

Learn how to safely open e-mail, avoid spam, and surf<br />

the internet without fear.<br />

LOW IMPACT AEROBICS FOR SENIORS<br />

A safe, low to no impact workout in a high energy setting.<br />

YOGA PLUS<br />

The breathing, yoga postures and relaxation in this<br />

class will create flexibility, strength and balance while<br />

reducing stress. These exercises can help to create a<br />

sense of well being. Appropriate for beginner or<br />

advanced students.<br />

TAI CHI I (FOR BEGINNERS)<br />

Learn the basic movements of this relaxing form of<br />

exercise. This class promotes balance, coordination,<br />

range of motion, improves posture and reduces<br />

stress.<br />

MAH JONG<br />

A game of skill and chance of ancient Chinese origins,<br />

in which game pieces known as tiles, bearing various<br />

designs, are drawn and discarded until one player has<br />

an entire hand of winning combinations, or the game<br />

is drawn.<br />

CARD MAKING<br />

A fun, relaxing and social class. Participants will learn<br />

the art of stamping, embossing, powders using heat<br />

tools, paper layering and collage techniques.<br />

CERAMICS<br />

This class will allow participants of varying abilities to<br />

create beautiful ceramic pieces. Students will learn to<br />

clean greenware, paint, fire and glaze their creations.<br />

BEGINNER BRIDGE<br />

For the first timer or just in need of a refresher, this<br />

class is for you. Learn the basics of this card game in<br />

a supervised, instructional setting.<br />

INTERMEDIATE BRIDGE CLASS<br />

This class will take a practical approach to improving<br />

your bridge skills. You will learn how to improve your<br />

bidding skills, when to bid, when to remain silent, and<br />

many other skills. Appropriate for advanced bridge<br />

players or those who have completed beginners<br />

bridge.<br />
