The Lipid Day:<br />

The annual lipid day has been started in 1998, the first meeting was held in Shebin ElKom,<br />
Menofiya attended at that time by about 80 experts in the fields of cardiology, Diabetes and<br />
cardiovascular protection.<br />
The extensive discussion during the meeting and the rapid progression of the knowledge in the<br />
field of lipidology and atherosclerosis raised the idea of repeating this meeting annually.<br />
From 1998 to 2003 the meeting was held annually in the second Thursday of Ramadan <strong>for</strong> one<br />
day activity.<br />
Since 2004 the Lipid day was joined by the annual interactive cardiology course discussing<br />
interesting cases with audio-reply system, not only in the field of lipidology, atherosclerosis and<br />
cardiovascular protection, but also in clinical and interventional cardiology. Since that time the<br />
meeting was held in Stella-Di Mare conventional center, El Sokhna, Egypt in 3 days activity.<br />
During The 8th annual Lipid Day (2005) the idea and proposed design of a multi-center clinical<br />
survey of the risk factor profile in Egyptian patients with acute coronary syndrome (The Egyptian<br />
Risk Factors and Lipid project) was discussed. The 9th annual Lipid day (2006) celebrated the<br />
founding of the Egyptian working group <strong>for</strong> <strong>Lipidology</strong>, <strong>Vascular</strong> <strong>Biology</strong> and Research (WGLVR),<br />
as a division of the Egyptian Society of Cardiology.<br />
The name of the meeting has been changed to CardioLipid congress. CardioLipid 2006 included,<br />
in addition to the 9th annual Lipid Day and interactive Cardiology Coarse, the 1st annual meeting<br />
of the working group as well as the DeltaCardio activity of that year. From 2007 to 2009 the<br />
congress faculty included <strong>for</strong>eign guest experts and has been internationally recognized and<br />
accredited by EBAC.

Dear colleagues, it gives me a great pleasure to invite you to participate in CardioLipid 2012 which will be held at<br />
Stella De Mary convention center, Elsokhna Egypt from 7 to 9 November 2012. The meeting this year will as usual<br />
include interactive case discussion and more presentations will be devoted to lipid metabolism and novel<br />
approaches in lipid lowering strategies in addition to review of the recent changes in guidelines concerning the<br />
evaluation and management of dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. On behalf of the WGLVR, let me wish you an<br />
