Montreal printings with values to 15c., 3c. laid paper, 3c., 12 1 ⁄2c. and 15c. watermarked;<br />

1870-88 2c. bisect on piece, 3c. perf. 12 1 ⁄2, 5c. straw with hair flaw; 1882-97 Small<br />

Queen; 1893 20c. (3) with 10c. on piece, 50c. strip of four; 1897 Jubilee 50c., $1, $4<br />

and $5 part original gum, $1, $2 and $3 used; 1897-98 10c. part original gum and used;<br />

1852-57 thin paper, 10d. dull blue with good to very large margins, generally light grid<br />

cancellation; an attractive stamp. S.G. 14, £1,500. Photo £300-400<br />

2039 1897-1931 mostly mint selection (41) on stockcards including 1897 Jubilee $1, $2, 1908<br />

Quebec 15c. (and another used), 1922-31 with values to $1(2), 1930-31 1c. to $1, etc.,<br />

chiefly good to fine £400-500<br />

Railway Cancellations<br />

2040 1854-1971, the extensive and valuable collection formed by the late John Ayshford, well<br />

written-up and housed in nineteen albums, contained in three cartons, over 2,200 covers<br />

and cards and a quantity of stamps arranged by lines, including Air Mail, Registered with<br />

Registration stamps, Special Delivery, etc.; mixed condition though a most interesting lot<br />

for the specialist £2,500-3,000<br />

CAPE OF GOOD HOPE<br />

2041 1855-63 6d. pale rose-lilac, two examples in contrasting shades, both with good margins<br />

and cancelled in red, one covering the entire stamp, the other leaving apex clear; one with<br />

small crease, otherwise sound. Also a further example (repaired at lower left corner) with<br />

large part Post Retief oval datestamp in red. S.G. 7. Photo £300-350<br />

Mafeking<br />

2042 1900 (Mar.-Apr.) seriffed surcharges, on Cape of Good Hope 1d. on 1 ⁄2d. to 1/- on 4d.<br />

set; on Bechuanaland Protectorate mint 1d. on 1 ⁄2d., 3d. on 1d., used 6d. on 2d.; on<br />

British Bechuanaland used 6d. on 3d. and mint 1/- on 4d.; sans-seriffed surcharges on<br />

Bechuanaland Protectorate mint 3d. on 1d. to 1/- on 6d., and on British Bechuanaland<br />

1/- on 6d. used; also 1900 (Apr.) used 1d. pale blue on blue pair and 1d. deep blue on<br />

blue. Mixed condition with some fine. (19) £800-1,000<br />

2043 1900 (Apr.) 3d. pale blue on blue, 21mm wide, fresh with large part original gum; small<br />

patch of gum/thin at upper left, otherwise fine. Rare. S.G. 21, £11,000. Photo £3,000-4,000<br />
