Dam, 10r. Dam as well as the “Rice Harvesting” design, etc., a wonderful group and unique group of essays for these attractive issues. An unusual pair sold on their merits £80-100 x2058 E P x2059 E P x2060 P E 1954 King Coconuts 10c., Courvoisiers’ original imperforate colour separations and trial printings with “CEYLON” in three languages appearing at the foot and value at the top, as well as other differences from the adopted design, twenty-four items affixed to two official archival album pages (numbered 192 and 193), fine and attractive. S.G. 435 £400-500 1961 Prime Minister Bandaranaike 10c., Courvoisiers’ original colour separations, unadopted designs and trial printings, seventy-five items affixed to seven official Archival album pages, numbered 493-499; this unique and important collection gives a remarkable insight into the care and consideration the printers took into account in developing the final form of the issued stamp. S.G. 471 £1,200-1,500 1961 and 1964 Prime Minister Bandaranaike 10c., imperforate proofs of the frame, the vignette and the completed design for both, 1964-72 Ruins at Madirigiriya 20c. imperforate proofs (3) in different colours and another with a plain light brown background, essays for a proposed 20c. S.G. 471, 481, 489, etc. £250-300 Postal Stationery 2061 1891 (18 Jan.) 3c. on 5c. card, uprated by 1888-90 2c. on 4c. mauve (S.G. 211), to Teheran, cancelled “H” in oval of bars and showing Badulla c.d.s., transit markings and Boushir arrival; the card with sealed tear at top, otherwise fine and an extremely rare destination.
