Manasquan Elks Champions Crowned in Elks “Hoop Shoot®” Competition Three boys and three girls, ages 8-13 won the first round of competition in the Elks “Hoop Shoot®” National free throw contest at Manasquan Elementary School on Saturday, December 4th and have been named 2010/2011 Manasquan Elks #2534 Champions. First, Second, and Third place trophies were awarded to one boy and one girl in each of the three categories: ages 8-9; 10-11; and 12-13. The first place winners are: 8-9 Boys – Shane Panzini, HW Mountz School; 8-9 Girls – Brenna Harold, St. Catharines School; 10-11 Boys – Patrick Regan, Brielle Elementary; 10-11 Girls, Faith Masonius, St. Catherines School; 12-13 Boys – Devon Jenson, Brielle Elementary; 12-13 Girls – Gillian Black, Spring Lake Heights Elementary School. The six champions now advance to the Southeast District Finals at Sea Girt Elementary School on Saturday, December 18th, where they will compete with other winners from Southern Monmouth and Northern Ocean counties. Winners of this day’s competition will advance to the State Finals held at South Plainfield High School on Sunday, February 13th, 2011.

At camp each child is challenged to try new things or to improve on what they already know. We encourage each child to do as much as they can for themselves and by themselves. Cooley’s Anemia Foundation’s Statement of Purpose The Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, incorporated in 1954, is the only national, nonprofit health organization dedicated to serving patients afflicted with various forms of thalassemia, most notably the major form of this genetic blood disease, Cooley’s anemia. Cooley’s Anemia Foundation’s Mission 1. Advancing the treatment and cure for this fatal blood disease. 2. Enhancing the quality of life of patients. 3. Educating the medical profession, thalassemia trait carriers, and the public about thalassemia/Cooley’s anemia.
