great time and great success.

We came home from our convention
with a couple of marching awards.
Congrats to our Esquire, Barbara
McCredie for taking third place in
the state. Our Color Guard took
fourth place in the state. And our
friends, Manasquan Marching Band
took home second place in" JR. Music"
in the state. We should be very
proud.
The game room upstairs, dedicated
as “The John Smith Game Room"
has been completed. Thank you

E l i g i b i l i t y :
1. Any Son or Daughter (or step-son or step-daughter) (or grand-son or grand-daughter) (or stepgrand-son
or step-grand-daughter) of an Elk who has been member in good standing for at
least one year is eligible to apply for the Legacy Award scholarship. The Elk must have been a
member for at least one year as of March 31 of the year in which the application is submitted
and must be a paid-up member through March 31 of the following year.
2. The applicant must be a high school senior or college freshman, sophomore or junior and a fulltime
student at a two or four year college/university.
3. Legacy Awards can only be applied to accredited US American schools, colleges, or universities.

NATIONAL SERVICE VETERANS COMMITEE
During the past two weeks some have asked why the Vets
Committee was not promoting Flag Day. I explained that
Flag Day is the responsibility of all citizens, not just the Veterans.
Too this end we at Elkdom have an Americanism
Committee headed by no other than our editor, Beth Tracey.
We all owe a round of thanks to Beth for putting up the flyers
for Flag Day.
The committee has already begun planning for the MASH
picnic and the Wounded Warrior Project, both happening in
September and the Veterans dance in November.
It has been suggested that the annual Goddard golf outing be
held in the morning with a buffet or sit-down lunch in the
afternoon. This would facilitate those that want to get home
early, especially those that work. Any comments, please put it
in writing or if you see a committee member let them know.
There will be a special meeting on July 8th to formulate
some plans with the regular meeting on July 15th.
As always, remember the Veteran!!!

Special Children. Last year the corn sale raised over $4,000.00 for the Special
Children’s Committee. The fresh, sweet, white Jersey corn is at the peak of the
season. We are looking for a great turn out from the Lodge. Volunteers are
needed both days in the morning between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM and
in the afternoon between the hours of 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM to help us bag the

Annual Day at the Beach
August 10th is our annual Day at the Beach. 75 special children and their
counselors from Elks Camp Moore will be our guests at our beautiful
Manasquan Elks Beach (Ocean Avenue, Manasquan).
The New Jersey State Elks Special Children’s Committee maintains a summer camp in Haskell, NJ. Elks Camp Moore
(a.k.a. "The Miracle on the Mountain") averages 700 special campers per season. Elks lodges in the state bear the
responsibility of paying for each camper that attends camp. Tucked away in the hill of the Ramapo Mountains, Elks
Camp Moore offers a fun filled vacation away from home for children with special needs. A week at Elks Camp Moore
is a remarkable experience not soon to be forgotten. The primary goal of the camp is to further develop the recreational
and social skills of each child. In a relaxed and accepting atmosphere , each camper experiences new adventures,
lasting friendships, and opportunities that promote independence and greater self-confidence.
Together we will enjoy a day of sun, sand, surf and a barbeque lunch. The children will arrive at the
beach around 10AM.
VOLUNTEERS - PLEASE MEET AT THE LODGE AT 8AM TO HELP ‘PACK-UP’ OR 9AM AT BEACH TO HELP
‘SET-UP’.

The Atlantic City Airshow "Thunder over the Boardwalk," is one of the most popular
events in Atlantic City, and one of the very best air shows in the country, with its heartstopping
feats, aerobatics maneuvers, formation flying and solo routines by military and

See flybys and demonstrations that reach up to 15,000 feet and as low as 50 feet over the
water in front of the Atlantic City skyline. Along with performances and demonstrations

Featuring Entertainment by Main Street
Consisting of Four members: Larry Fain on drums, Fred Errico on Keyboards, Mike Rosenow on
guitar and Joey DeNardo on Bass. All four are vocalists and share the lead. The Band plays a wide
variety of music, from Doo Wop to current hits and dance music. They have been together for over
ten years.
Some of their credits include: Performing as the opening act for The Association, The Duprees
The Crests, The Coasters, The Drifters, The 1910 Fruitgum Company and they have also toured
with Percy Sledge. Some of the members have trained with the Crests and have trained at the Metropolitan
Opera House. They have a diverse vocal range and a wide variety of music.
