MX-1 Telescope Adapter for Apple iPhone
Just when you thought it was safe to
put your iPhone in your pocket,
Magnilux, a small astronomy-based business
on Florida’s space Coast owned by
Bob Buchanan, developed the MX-1
Telescope Adapter for the Apple iPhone to
provide a simple way for iPhone owners to
use their phones for astro-imaging and
viewing.
The MX-1 Telescope Adapter is
specifically designed to facilitate attachment
of the iPhone directly to a telescope
eyepiece for viewing and photography via
the afocal-method. The adapter is rugged,
lightweight, and compatible with any
model iPhone (original, 3G, 3GS, or 4).
The MX-1 Telescope Adapter system
includes three felt-lined attachment
clamps that will adapt to almost any standard
1.25-inch format eyepiece.
Additionally, the MX-1 can be configured
to attach your iPhone to a standard photography
tripod for shooting landscapes,
panoramas, or even family photos!
Amateur astronomers will find the
MX-1 a hit at star parties where it allows
the iPhone to be used as a small, ultraportable
display for sharing scope views

Introduces New V-Series Saddle
Farpoint Astronomical Research has
introduced a new addition to its V-Series
line of dovetail saddles designated the
FVSEQ. The new product provides easy
bolt-on replacement of the stock dovetail
saddles with which the popular Orion
Atlas EQ-G and Skywatcher EQ6 Pro
German equatorial mounts are equipped.
Upgrading these already-capable
mounts with the FVSEQ saddle and
adapter increases their capacity by providing
far more clamping area along Vixenstyle
dovetails and,
because the design of the
FVSEQ utilizes a clamping
bar rather than direct
screw-to-dovetail-bar
contact, the upgraded
saddle will not mar the
user’s dovetail bar.
The Farpoint FVSEQ saddle and
adapter assembly is precision machined
from solid aluminum and feature
Farpoint’s trademark padded knobs and a
brass spacer. Each FVSEQ assembly is sold
