Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act <strong>of</strong> 1996 (IIRIRA)<br />
• Captures fingerprints and photographs <strong>of</strong> all non-immigrant visa holders<br />
• Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)<br />
• Automated Student tracking system mandated by the Illegal Immigration Reform and<br />
Immigrant Responsibility Act <strong>of</strong> 1996 (IIRIRA)<br />
• Tracks all foreign students and exchange visitors from application to course completion<br />
• National <strong>Security</strong> Entry Exit Registration System (NSEERS)<br />
• Based on the authority <strong>of</strong> the Attorney General/Secretary <strong>of</strong> <strong>Homeland</strong> <strong>Security</strong> to<br />
require special registration <strong>of</strong> certain non-immigrant aliens<br />
• Requires port <strong>of</strong> entry registration for non-immigrants from eight (8) special interest<br />
countries and <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> State referrals<br />
• Required domestic registration for non-immigrants from twenty-five (25) special interest<br />
countries<br />
• Operation Predator<br />
• Operation Predator is an ongoing ICE enforcement initiative to protect children from<br />
pornographers, child prostitution rings, Internet predators, alien smugglers, human<br />
traffickers, and other predatory criminals.<br />
• Targets include U.S. citizens suspected <strong>of</strong> child sex crimes and non-citizen sex<br />
<strong>of</strong>fenders whose crimes make them subject to removal from the U.S.<br />
• Since July 2003, ICE has arrested a total <strong>of</strong> 1,556 <strong>of</strong>fenders<br />
