Sara Cain is back on the<br />
<strong>Creighton</strong> bench for her<br />
second season as the graduate<br />
manager. The former Bluejay<br />
captain is involved with film<br />
exchange and camps as part of<br />
the Bluejay staff.<br />
A two-year starter for the<br />
<strong>Bluejays</strong>, Cain started 64 of the<br />
121 games she played in from<br />
2004-08. The forward concluded her career ranked fifth in school<br />
history in games played and eighth with a 75.9 career free-throw<br />
percentage.<br />
The Walford, Iowa, native was a McDonald’s All-American<br />
nominee at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School before attending<br />
<strong>Creighton</strong>. Cain had a breakout junior campaign with the Jays,<br />
leading the team with 10.6 points per game, scoring more points<br />
as a junior than her first two seasons combined. She concluded<br />
her junior season with a career-high 24 points in the Missouri<br />
Valley Conference Tournament championship game and earned<br />
MVC All-Tournament Team honors for her play in the event.<br />

As a senior, she topped the team with 19 double-figure scoring<br />
games for the second straight season, finishing with 10.5<br />
points and a career-best 5.5 rebounds per game to earn secondteam<br />
all-MVC honors. She was a two-time MVC Scholar-Athlete<br />
Second-Team selection, and was named to the Division I-AAA<br />
Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team and the<br />
ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Second-<br />
Team as a senior. A dean’s list honoree all four years, she finished<br />
her career with 894 points and 483 rebounds.<br />
Cain’s older twin brothers, Nathan and Brett, were also collegiate<br />
athletes, playing football at Nebraska-Omaha and basketball<br />
at Wayne State (Neb.), respectively, while younger sister<br />
Lindsey is a junior basketball player at Northern Iowa.<br />
Cain earned her undergraduate degree in exercise science<br />
with a minor in biology from <strong>Creighton</strong> in 2008. She is currently<br />
working on her master’s degree in biomedical sciences, with<br />
plans to attend medical school upon completing her graduate<br />
studies.<br />
