Megan Neuvirth led the Bluejays with 19 points, six
rebounds, four steals, three blocks and three assists
to guide the Jays to a 20-point win over Drake. Ally
Jensen, from nearby Ames, scored a then careerhigh
13 points, as the Bluejays shot 9-of-22 from
three-point range. The victory gave Creighton its first
sweep of Drake since the 2002-03 season and backto-back
wins in Des Moines for just the second time.
Creighton opened the game on a 15-6 run and never
trailed in topping their most-played rival in school history.
The Jays scored the final eight points of the first
half to take a 15-point lead after Neuvirth’s offensive
rebound and putback just seconds before the buzzer
put the Jays up 40-25. After missing their first five
three-point attempts in the game, the Bluejays made
5-of-8 from beyond the arc to close the half. The Jays
maintained their double-figure lead in the second half,
leading by as many as 21 in the game. Creighton
scored a season-high 23 second-chance points.

Creighton swept the season-series from regular-season
champion Illinois State with a 60-57 win over the
Redbirds, despite shooting 28.6 percent from the field.
The Bluejays missed their first eight field goal
attempts and made 1-of-14 from the field to start the
game. Illinois State had its own shooting woes, as it
could not build any more than a four-point lead during
the Jays’ slow start. The Redbirds were up 8-4 seven
minutes into the game, but the Jays scored six straight
to take their first lead of the game with 11:32 left in the
half. CU led 23-19 at the half, despite making just 6-
of-35 shots in the opening stanza. ISU grabbed the
first six rebounds of the second half, while taking a 29-
25 lead. Creighton answered with a 14-0 run and
would never trail again. Megan Neuvirth led the team
with 18 points and 12 rebounds, as she sank a careerhigh
nine free throws, going 6-for-6 at the free-throw
line in the final 35 seconds to hold off the Redbirds.
CU, the only MVC team to beat ISU in the regular season,
snapped the Redbirds’ 15-game winning streak.
