Creighton scored the first 10 points of the game and
overcame a halftime deficit to win the first postseason
game played at D.J. Sokol Arena. Creighton jumped
out to a 10-0 lead in the first two minutes of play, making
its first four shots. The Jays pushed ahead by as
many as 11 in the first half, leading 35-24 with 3:47 to
play in the opening stanza. The Ladyjacks, who
entered the game ranked seventh in the nation in
scoring average (78.8), rattled off a 14-0 run to close
the first half, taking a 38-35 lead into the locker room.
The Bluejays scored the first four points of the second
half and never trailed again. Creighton put together a
13-4 burst to move to a 61-51 lead with 8:38 left in the
game, while its largest lead was 72-57 with 3:24 left.
Sam Schuett led four Bluejays in double figures with
16 points. Megan Neuvirth tied the school career
rebounding record with her 924th board.

For the third straight year Creighton’s season came to
an end in the second round of the WNIT, and for the
second consecutive season, it came in a loss at
Kansas. The Bluejays trailed 66-53 with 2:53 left in
the game, but used a furious 15-4 run to have a gamewinning
shot attempt in the closing seconds, before
falling to KU 71-68. Down 70-68 with 19.5 seconds
left in the game, the Jays forced a KU turnover to set
up a game-winning three-point attempt with 10 seconds
to play. Jasmin Corbin, who had hit a threepointer
just moments earlier, attempted another from
the exact spot of her make, but the shot was short and
KU rebounded the ball to hang on for the win. Sam
Schuett led the Bluejays with 18 points, going 5-of-7
from three-point range. Megan Neuvirth added 17
points and five rebounds to end her career as the alltime
leader in school history with 929 career boards.
Chevelle Herring had 13 points in her final game.
