Current synoptic:
The well marked low pressure area over Odisha and adjoining North-West Bay of Bengal now weaken in to a Low pressure area over Odisha
and adjoining areas of Jharkhand and Chattisgarh with associated cyclonic circulation extending upto Mid-tropospheric levels. The axis of the
monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Bikaner, Sawai Madhopur, Damoh, Pendra, centre of low pressure area, Paradip and
thence South-East wards to East central Bay of Bengal.

Agro- Advisories
Sali rice(Sowing /Main field preparation)
In the main field, fertilizer requirements will be- urea 18kg, SSP 17kg & MOP 9kg/ bigha for
dwarf varieties and urea 6kg, SSP 8kg & MOP 2kg/ bigha for tall varieties. Half of urea and
whole of SSP and MOP should be applied at the time of final puddling. In standing water,
urea along with SSP and MOP can be applied in pallet form.
INM package for rice: organic manure @ 1 t/ha (on dry weight basis) mixed inocula of
Azospirillium and Bacillus @ 0.4 to 0.5 kg/bigha, rock phosphate @ 7.5 kg/bigha, MOP @ 9
kg/bigha can be applied.
Follow the spacing for normal transplanted Sali as stated under:

Maize : (Tasselling). Top dressing of urea@6 kg/bigha followed by second earthing up
should be done.
Ginger and turmeric(weeding and earthing up).:
Make proper arrangement of drainage in flood affected area.
For Mites, Leaf roller and shoot borer: Spray Dimecron 0.06% (0.6 ml/lit. of water).
Rhizome (soft) rot : The affected areas should be drenched with 0.3% Mancozeb 75 WP (2g/l) or
Captafol..

Capsularis jute ( harvesting and retting) Harvesting and retting should be done
preferably at pre-flowering stage (120days after sowing) to get better quality fibre. At
present the water temperature in the retting tanks is ideal for retting of jute. Early and
timely sown capsularis jute may be harvested during this week and kept in the field in
standing position for 3-4 days before retting for proper defoliation.
Olitorius jute: (Vegetative, Sowing for seed purpose)
As pesticide application is not feasible in rainy weather, so arrangement of Bamboo
perch is an effective measure to control the hairy caterpillar and semi-looper in jute
through predatory birds.
Land preparation and sowing of jute seeds for seed crop of jute may be started.
Arhar : (Land preparation and sowing)
July is the ideal time of sowing Arhar in Assam. Farmers may collect the seeds of
suitable high yielding variety viz. T-21 for this purpose. One weeding is to be done at
20-25 days after sowing
Beetle vine and black pepper :
In the present situation of alternate drying and wetting condition may favour the
occurrence of rotting of leaves and stems of beetle vine and quick wilt of black pepper.
Prophylactic application of Bordeaux Mixture in sunny weather may prevent the spread/
outbreak of the disease.
Banana(various)
To check the spread of Bunchy top disease, the aphid vector should be controlled by spraying Rogor or
Dimacron @ 1ml /lit of water.
Summer gourd (planting)
Spraying of Malathion @ 2 ml/lit + addition of molasses to attract the pest. As an ITK, smoking with rice
straw bundle along with dry chilli.
Cucurbit (vegetative/fruiting)
Malathion 50 EC @ 2 ml/ lit of water should be sprayed if attack of Red pumpkin beetle and fruit
fly is observed.Against powdery Mildew farmers can spray Bavistin 0.1% or Karathane wp
0.05%. Spraying should be avoided in rainy days.
Summer vegetables’(fruiting)
Farmers are advised to look after the drainage of excess water from the root zone of
summer gourd vegetables as rain is predicted during coming five days.. . To control
beetles and fruit and shoot borer spray Malathion 50 EC @ 1.5 lit/ha with spray volume
of 500 – 700 lit/ha. Spray during sunny weather. Drain out the excess water from the
field.
Sugarcane (various):
To control red rot disease of sugarcane water stagnation in the field should be avoided and roguing of the
affected plants should be practiced. The affected canes shrivelled, the leaves and leaf sheaths dry up and
when the stem is split open, characteristics reddening of internal tissue with white transverse bands are
obser
Citrous(Various)
In the affected plant, dark staining of the bark occurs which becomes olive brown in colour with water
soaked appearance. In advanced stages, the bark cracks, strips off lengthwise and gum exudates resulting

yellowing and die back. The affected portion should be scraped out with a small portion of healthy tissue
without injuring the wood and smear with Bordeaux paste. Maintain proper drainage facilities..
Kashi mandarin(Various)
One weeding should be done in this month.
To control sap sucking insects (aphids/mealy bug/scales) plants should be sprayed with
Malathion 0.1%
Livestock: (cattle & poultry)
Proper vaccination schedule should be followed to protect cattle from viral and bacterial
diseases
Animal care: Immunizations against FMD, HS and BQ in cattle & buffaloes and swine
fever in pigs may be carried out during monsoon season. Vaccination (RDF1) against
Ranikhet disease in one week old chicks and against Gamboro disease in two weeks
old chicks may be carried out
Fishary(Fingerling):
As sufficient rain occurred during the previous fortnight, release fingerling in the pond.
Cleaning and liming of the pond should be done before releasing fingerling in the pond.
