Insider View of Radiography<br />

On World Radiography Day, 8 November, radiography staff<br />

hosted an Open Day in Craigavon, South Tyrone <strong>and</strong> Daisy Hill<br />

Hospitals to raise awareness of their services amongst patients<br />

<strong>and</strong> visitors. Radiography staff Julie McBride <strong>and</strong> Bronagh<br />

McCauley with Chief Executive, Mairead McAlinden at the<br />

Craigavon Open Day.<br />

Walk Ten, Belfast<br />

Well done to the staff from the Acute <strong>and</strong> Mental<br />

<strong>Health</strong> Booking centres at Craigavon Area Hospital<br />

who took part in the Walk Ten, Belfast <strong>and</strong> raised a<br />

total of £1,611.50 for Marie Curie.<br />

World Hospice <strong>and</strong><br />

Palliative <strong>Care</strong> Day<br />

On 12 October, Palliative <strong>Care</strong> staff held<br />

Information Roadshows throughout <strong>Trust</strong> facilities<br />

to raise awareness <strong>and</strong> to improve staff’s<br />

underst<strong>and</strong>ing of palliative <strong>and</strong> end of life care.<br />

morning in aid of<br />

<strong>Southern</strong> Area Hospice.<br />

The team presented a<br />

gr<strong>and</strong> total of £540 to<br />

Tracey Muldoon from the<br />

Hospice (front centre).<br />

Visit from Chief<br />

Nursing Officer<br />

Acting Chief Nursing Officer, Mrs McLernon met<br />

with staff from specialist primary care services <strong>and</strong><br />

heard about the work of the community palliative<br />

care team, multi-disciplinary specialist diabetes<br />

team <strong>and</strong> the implementation of insulin pumps for<br />

patients with type 1 diabetes.<br />

Other teams including the fracture liaison nurse<br />

specialist, older peoples nurse specialists, heart<br />

failure <strong>and</strong> COPD teams also provided information<br />

on their services as well as a demonstration on<br />

remote tele-health monitoring.<br />
