BSTP Change Lead, Valerie Clarke
What is your role
To ensure that staff are prepared for the
changes taking place under the Business
Services Transformation Programme
(BSTP). This major modernisation of
corporate services throughout the HSC
regionally will affect every member of staff.
The introduction of new automated Finance
and Human Resources systems means that we will
be using new web based systems to complete many
routine tasks like ordering goods, applying for leave
and claiming travel.
What is the biggest challenge in your
job
The Project Board has been preparing for this
mammoth task for months. We need to ensure that
systems are in place, staff understand what they
need to do, are trained and have access to PCs to be
ready for ‘go live.’
What gives you the most job
satisfaction To know that I am part of one of the
biggest changes in health and social care in years.
We will be going live with Finance Systems in early
2013, followed by Human Resources and Payroll in
Summer/Autumn 2013. Hopefully it will be satisfying
when staff see the advantages e.g. reduction of
manual systems; ability to
“I supported the team by answering telephone calls, staffi ng the
reception area and meeting visitors. I drafted minutes for staff,
typed letters and organised photocopying. I also maintained
the telephone contacts book and completed spread sheets
the Physical Disability Team was really interesting and there
I really enjoyed my time at Manse View in Newry. I’m interested in volunteering with people who have
physical disabilities as a result of my contact/experience with the team.”
