“Premium Beef” has entrenched itself as one of the very reputable 

Simmental bull sales that happens in the province of Manitoba each 

season. It has grown into a closed group sale that annually attracts a 

large crowd that includes many repeat buyers. On a professional note, 

this a very good group of people to do business with who have become 

very valued customers and friends of ours. 

“Premium Beef” is the exclusive home to the good strings of bulls from 

Twin Brae, Schweitzer and Workman Farms. These breeding units have 

earned and developed a very solid clientele base of satisfied customers 

who loyally purchase their bulls at Premium Beef from them annually. A 

solid product from solid people is what makes this a “win/win” for both 

buyer and seller. 

An interesting coincidence for this year’s sale is the number of high 

caliber, front-end, “breeder-quality” black bulls that will appear as individuals 

within the good strings from Northern Lights, Bert’s NR, Pizzey 

and RKT. Breeder’s looking to access a new top black herdsire may

Welcome everyone to the 2013 Premium Beef Bull Sale. This year we are offering 20 preselected bulls 

to meet everyone’s needs. We have polled red and black factor purebreds along with Fleck influenced 

fullbloods. New to our sale offering are our”Romano” sons. They are impressive to say the least. Romano 

90X is a Full Fleck herdsire that has turned out to be a calving ease specialist. His offspring have lots 

of growth and thickness. You will see he marks all his calves the same; solid colored and goggle-eyed. 

This will be one of our last years to offer “Vegas” offspring. He did a tremendous job for us for the last 12 

years. Vegas’ disposition was second to none, his offspring had lots of 

growth and performance and his females milked really well. 

All the yearling bulls for sale have been on a complete vaccination 

program.

No holiday for us this year- we are back to calving the old cows and 

a lot of heifers. Jay picked a nice warm day to come and select bulls 

and since then we have had snow and more snow with cold blowing 

winds. The bulls in our pen were developed on an oat and pellet 

ration along with free choice hay and minerals. We are pleased to 

have a couple of outstanding long yearlings for offer this year. They 

can go to work to cover those extra cows. The balance of the bulls 

will also have passed a semen test before sale day and be ready

Here is one of the deepest bodied, thickest quartered bulls we have ever raised! 

Milhouse is a bull with tons of performance, lots of eye appeal and great testicular 

development. He delivers the highly sought after Black Baldy look with a little different 

pedigree. We showed Milhouse at MLE this past fall where he 

topped his class, and was also on exhibition at Ag Days Bull 

Congress in Brandon this past January. His sire, House, has

Power Surge is a moderate framed, well built, easy doing

Our Crimson Tide calves are the most uniform group of cattle 

we have ever raised. This is the first group of bulls to sell off of 

him. Zippy is moderate framed with good performance. He has 

a great hair coat, good feet and legs and is a prime example of

blaze cow who was shown at Agribition years ago and continues

It is easy to see the consistency that Crimson 

Tide throws in his calves. Our bull pen is a prime 

example. They are born easy, have good hair 

coats - thick and deep red. They are soggy, thickly 

made, wide quartered and are eye appealing. Not

14Z is one of those bulls you are always proud to raise and always wonder why you are selling him. 

He is super thick and deep, loose hided, has a great quarter and strong top all in a middle of the 

road type of frame. His dam is a solid black Bodybuilder cow we bought from Preston Stock Farms 

at the Harvest Hoedown sale that milks well. It is not a surprise that our best bull is sired by Trustin

Fusion left us some really good daughters and always left us these easy doing, middle

Welcome to our portion of the Premium Beef bull sale. We think we are 

bringing a very useful set of bulls sired mainly by our walking bulls. This 

will be the last year for Wheatland 636S calves as he injured himself 

during the summer of 2011 and Sunny Valley Wise Guy suffered a freak 

injury just prior to this past breeding season. Four of the five Wise Guy 

calves are out of heifers, he has worked exceptionally well that way. 

The first daughters are calving this year and they look great, moderate 

in frame with beautiful udders. This is the first year for Wheatland 15X 

(black) and WFL 85X (red), not a large offering as they were used like 

yearlings. 15X calved very easy so we used him on heifers this year. 

85X (Reg) is a power bull. Again this year the bulls were not on creep 

feed through the summer and were fed 14% pellet ration from Feedmax 

in Killarney. The bulls will not be fat, just in good shape. Thanks for your

If a strong mother cow is one of the things you look for in a 

herd bull then these transplant bulls should be considered. CG 

Black Opal 652S is one of the elite black Simmental cows out 

there and she proved it last fall. For a six year old cow to win 

Reserve Champion Female at Olds Fall Classic and Manitoba 

Livestock Expo is an impressive feat. Opal is moderate, deep 

bodied and has a flawless udder. Although these two bulls are 

different in ways, the strength of Opal comes through. The On 

Target is a heavy muscled calf with lots of top and rear quarter. 

The Intuition is soft made, deep sided and easy fleshing. Both 

bulls have good testicles and excellent hair. Back Roads 16Z 

is a full sibling to the dam of “Alliance”, our high seller to the 

Pizzeys last year. We considered keeping each of these bulls at 

different times but decided to bring them to Neepawa together to

Kalahari is a very correctly made bull with balance, thickness and style. He comes 

from the strongest cow family in our herd and his mother, 3W, is always admired by 

those who visit. Kalahari’s cow family is the kind you build 

a herd from. His great grandmother spent her last years in 

Greg Goudy’s flush program and his grandmother is going 

to be going into ours soon. Kalahari has a very calving 

ease oriented pedigree, but still enough performance. He 

has loads of hair and good testicles. If you raise your own 

replacement females don’t let this bull get away, he will 

sire extremely functional cows with nice udders and the 

perfect frame size. Kalahari has great temperament as
