The Theme
The impact of recent State and Local
Government changes and high profile climate
events is being felt by the water industry in
North Queensland. The changes in legislation,
combined with economic impacts have meant
evolution of the water business environment
from the frantic days of hoping to have time to
draw breath. The need now is to focus on
strategic issues as well as keeping our heads
above water (in some cases literally). This
conference will focus on efforts at maintaining
services and water businesses in North
Queensland under the impact of constrained
budgets, revised legislation and stakeholder
pressures.
Despite challenging conditions there is still
strong population growth forecast in the NQ
region and this brings with it requisite new or
expanded infrastructure projects.
