A <strong>qualitative</strong> <strong>study</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>children</strong>, <strong>young</strong> <strong>people</strong> <strong>and</strong> ‘sexting’<br />

<strong>young</strong> <strong>people</strong> themselves. The result is not only a rich <strong>and</strong> insightful account <strong>of</strong> ‘sexting’ practices <strong>and</strong><br />

contexts <strong>of</strong> use but also an underst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>of</strong> how these relate to issues facing <strong>young</strong> <strong>people</strong> <strong>of</strong> identity<br />

<strong>and</strong> sociality, gender <strong>and</strong> sexuality, risk <strong>and</strong> harm, resilience <strong>and</strong> vulnerability. Before examining the<br />

findings, however, we <strong>of</strong>fer a succinct review <strong>of</strong> the available research literature on ‘sexting’ <strong>and</strong>, to<br />

contextualise these findings, on the sexualisation <strong>of</strong> culture <strong>and</strong> on online risks to <strong>children</strong>.<br />
