We have conservation easements that protect water
quality, easements that protect wildlife habitat, easements that
provide access to trails. But we think it's just plain cool to have a
conservation easement that does nothing more - or less - than protect
the character of Pocantico Hills, one of those timeless places of
white clapboard and quiet streets that connects you to the past.
Pocantico Village Green is just an acre in size, and it's not exactly
wildlife habitat. But the Laurance Rockefeller Trust donated it
with the idea that if the Green were allowed to change, Pocantico

Hills would not be the same. Build one house on it or build 10 and
the area would be different, and not better.
But with the donation of the Pocantico Village Green conservation
easement, that risk is gone. And everyone who ever drives
for, to 50 percent from 30
percent of adjusted gross income.
