Kids in the Kitchen is WILD about Wellness!
Kid’s in the Kitchen held The Wild for Wellness Fitness Fiesta on March 31, 2012 at the
Texas A & M Corpus Christi Dugan Wellness Center. The Fitness Fiesta was a free
citywide community event focusing on choosing a Healthier Lifestyle for the whole family.
The event included thirty-four vendors and twelve performances. The performances included
a wide variety of healthy activities to promote exercise and well being. Some of
the performances were Zumba, ballet, School drill teams, Texas A & M Islander’s Basketball
team, tennis, and cycling. There were fun hands on activities for the whole family
that focused on nutrition, as well as, free diabetes and BMI testing.
Our Showcase performance was by Rock Star Nutritionist
Jill Jayne who performed her Nutrition Rock Invasion
Show. Jill’s performance was an interactive show with
the children on nutrition. Singing and dancing about
fruits and vegetables is a fun way for children to learn
about nutrition and exercise.
The event had five local restaurants that all had healthy
choices to sample from their menus. H-E-B and the
Farmer’s Market were present doing fabulous food
demonstrations.
Our sponsor’s were United Healthcare, H-E-B, ESPN,
Kbay, Z95, and Corpus Christi Regional Transportation
Authority (RTA).
Congratulations to the entire Kid’s in the Kitchen committee
for all of their hard work and dedication to making
the event a Huge Success.
