• A microcell is often under the control of a<br />
conventional cell site, with which it usually<br />
communicates by microwave radio.<br />
• The microcell may itself be divided into several<br />
zones.<br />
• Figure 3.10 illustrates how <strong>microcells</strong> and<br />
conventional cells (sometimes called macrocells)<br />
can work together.<br />
• In order to save costs, many microcell sites are not<br />
true transceivers but are only amplifiers and<br />
frequency translators. Figure 3.11 shows the idea.
