M1 J32 to J35a Managed Motorway
Consultation Document
was no ten second rule, the issue of safety arises, as the driver would be
required to brake sharply in order to comply with the new lower speed limit.
Subject to the outcome of the consultation, the proposed Regulations when
made will apply in relation to the M1 between junctions 32 and 35a and to the
on-slip and off-slip roads between junctions 32 and 35a. The roads governed by
the Regulations will be set out in the Regulations.
The proposed draft Regulations will not apply nationally – they will apply only to
those parts of the motorway as specified in the Regulations (namely, the area
between and including Junctions 32 to 35a of the M1 motorway). As drafted,
these Regulations would put in place the legislative framework required to
operate the M1 J32 to J35a Managed Motorway scheme.
