Read the following text about health and safety.

In pairs discuss:

• Share ways to memorise these safety precautions e.g. drawing them

Chemical Regulations 1994
Any dangerous chemicals supplied in a container must be labelled and packed in a
way that will tolerate the conditions of supply and transportation.
The act is designed to safeguard both people and the environment from the harmful
effects of chemicals.

HARMFUL
May cause limited health risk if:
• inhaled
• penetration of skin occurs.
Do not breathe dust, spray or vapour.
Avoid contact with skin.
Wash thoroughly before you drink, eat
or smoke.
In the case of contact with eyes, rinse
immediately and seek medical advice.
IRRITANT
May cause inflammation and irritation if:
• in contact with the skin
• inhaled.
The contact may be:
• immediate
• repeated
• prolonged.
Do not breathe dust, spray or vapour.
In the case of contact with skin, wash
immediately with plenty of water.
In the case of contact with eyes, rinse
immediately and seek medical advice.
