new phylogenetic work hut nierely continue a tradition,
albeit a different one from that of Voous 119771 .
There ohviously should he a market for this checklist . It
is the most up-to-date list of bird species of ihe region
and hirciers visiting Asia will cluubtless iind it very helpíul

DBA-vogeldag op 6 februari 1999 te Ulrechl De tradiliamele
DBA-vo};eldat; staat voor volgend jaar gepland
op zaterdag b lehruari 1999 . De locatie is het inmiddels
al even traditionele Hootdgebouw Diergeneeskunde
aan de Yalelaan 1 lin De Uithof) te Utrecht . Utrecht,
een Inc atie die qua ligging . bereikbaarheid Imet de auto
via afslag 'Uithof' vanaf cie A27 en A28, na het AZUziekenhuis
de eerste weg rechts : met de bus vanat
Utrecht CS niet de lijnen 11 en 121 en ruimte nog
steeds onovertroffen is . Uiteraard wordt in het programma
plaats ingeruimd voor bekende onderdelen als de
'mysterv bird-competitie' en de laaroverzichten 1998 .
Het DBA-hestuur is druk bezig het programma nader in
te vufken . In de foyer zal de gebruikelijke 'vogelaarsbeurs'
op};esteld worden die tevens dienst doet als sociaal
ontmoetingscentrum. In een koniende Dutch
Birding en via de Dutch BirdinB-vogellijn ((1900-
203 2 12 8; 75 cpm) zal het definitieve programma
bekend worden gemaakl . Ook deze DBA-vogeldag zal
weer een sociale, onrierhoudende en leerzame gelegenheid
hij uitstek zijn voor onze begunstigers en voor

NOU-symposium over vogeitaxonomie in april 1999
Op zaterdag 10 april l999 organiseert de Nederlandse
Ornitholcr,is(he Unie INOL1 een syinposium over
vot;eltaxonomie in het Nationaal Natuurhistorisch
Museum,'Naturalis te Leiden, Zuid-Holiand. Nieuwe
inzichten, veelal veroorzaakt door nieuwe technieken
zoals DNA-analyse, hebben het inzicht in cie evolutie
van vogels verdiept maar ook de discussie over verwantschappen,
soorten en soortgrenzen doen oplaaien . Dat
dit nogal wat tot gevolg heeft ervaren niet alleen professionele
ornithologen, vogelheschermers en bijvoorbeeld
uitgevers van vot;ellx)eken, ook vogelaars weten niet
allijd meer waar ze aan toe zijn . In een vijftal lezingen
worden achtergronden belicht en worden de voors en
tegens van een veranderende svsteniatiek uiteengezet .
Het symposium wordt afgesloten met een rondetafeldiscussie
waaraan onder meer wordl deelgenomen door de
Commissie Systematiek Nederlandse Avifauna (CSNA) .
Nadere inrnrrnatie over hel lezingenprogramma zal op
een later tijcistip worden bekendgemaakt .
Tijdens de lunchpauze of na afloop kan men desgewenst
de tentoonstellingen van het Nationaal Natuurhistorisch
Museurn/Naturaiis bezoeken Ineem dus uw
museumjaarkaart rnee} . PEaats : Auditorium van het
Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum/INaturalis, Danvinwev,
21, Leiden (vijf minuten lopen van NS-station
Leiden), ingang via het Pesthuis ; aanvang 10 :00, afsluiting
16:00.
