Zhejiang University is a key tertiary educational institution directed by the Education
Ministry. It has one of the largest university populations in China, with the fullest
range of disciplines and considerable international prestige. It was also one of the
first key universities included on the list of priority reconstruction in China.
With a history of over 100 years and driven by a motto of seeking truth, Zhejiang
University has won domestic and international fame by preparing generations of
elites and producing outstanding achievements in the spirit of scientific innovation.
Joseph Needham, a celebrated British scholar, regarded it as the “Cambridge in the
East”. More than 160 of its alumni are members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. 90 of them are studying at Zhejiang
University with its 37 schools covering 12 categories of disciplines and subjects.

PolyU is a university with a proud and illustrious history. Formerly known as the
Hong Kong Polytechnic, the institution assumed full university status in 1994, and
is currently the largest UGC-funded tertiary institution by number of students.
With over 3,000 staff, 30,000 students and over 300,000 graduates, PolyU has made
