KOC110/3337-Writing Workshop
This writing enrichment course guides students
through the writing process and builds their
confidence to foster a love of writing. Emphasis
will be placed on such writing prompts as
open-ended questions, pictures, and poetry.
Students will be exposed to a variety of writing
strategies through language arts, science,
social studies, and mathematics.

This course uses manipulatives, games, handson
activities, and literature to enable children
to explore the problem-solving strategies and
techniques necessary to solve mathematical
word problems relevant to real life experiences.
The class is designed to help students sharpen
their skills and focuses on conceptualizing and
creating meaning in mathematics problemsolving.

KOC859/3339-Writing in the Digital Age
This course enables students to bridge the gap
between academics and technology and to
build writing stamina in a variety of genres,
including test-taking formats. Children maintain
electronic journals, work within the facets
of Microsoft Word, and develop PowerPoint
presentations.

This course helps students to develop better
math strategies to help them perform better on
standardized tests and to improve their grades
in school. Students further their skills with
fractions, decimals, and percents and explore
techniques for improving their problem-solving
skills.

This course uses a hands-on approach,
manipulatives, and team-taught methods to
enable students to expand their vocabulary and

helping them to improve their performance in
subjects in which excellent reading skills are

SWIMMING (AGES 6–14)
Session One
For all courses beyond Level I, students must
demonstrate a mastery of course content to
progress to the next level. Identification cards
will be issued to all students on the first day of
class and all students must wear bathing caps.
KOC024/3342-Beginning Swimming for
Kids Level I
This introductory course for those who cannot
swim or for those with limited ability helps
children to feel comfortable in the water and
covers the front and back floats, locomotion
and basic rescue skills, and personal safety.
