NCA GOALS <br />
Math Goal: All students will improve their<br />
understanding of the properties of geometric shapes<br />
across the curriculum.<br />
Intervention 1: Students will use proper<br />
terminology to describe geometric shapes.<br />
Intervention 2: Increase student awareness of<br />
properties of geometric shapes across the curriculum.<br />
Reading Goal: All students will improve reading<br />
comprehension through the use of complex structures,<br />
like Venn diagrams and outlines, to organize<br />
information across the curriculum.<br />
Intervention 1: Increase student awareness of the<br />
use and variety of graphic organizers.<br />
Intervention 2: Increase student awareness of<br />
specialized vocabulary across the curriculum.<br />
<strong>DHS</strong> offers a variety of athletic and non-athletic<br />
activities for males and females. For interscholastic<br />
competition, <strong>DHS</strong> is a member of the Western<br />
Dakota Association (WDA) of North Dakota Class A<br />
schools and the North Dakota High <strong>School</strong> Activities<br />
Association (N<strong>DHS</strong>AA). <strong>DHS</strong> currently celebrates 32<br />
state championships in these sports. <strong>DHS</strong> also<br />
competes interscholastically in Music, Speech,<br />
Student Congress and Dance.<br />

<strong>Dickinson</strong> High <strong>School</strong> educates an average of 890<br />
students from grades 9 through 12 each year<br />
and employs 3 certified administrators, 59 certified<br />
teachers, 3 counselors and 36 classified members. <strong>DHS</strong><br />
utilizes a four-period-per-day block schedule, allowing<br />
students to earn up to 8 credits per year. <strong>DHS</strong> is<br />
State A Accredited with Commendation by the North<br />
Central Association (NCA).<br />
<strong>DHS</strong> offers approximately188 different courses in a<br />
variety of academic and vocational areas, as well as,<br />
6 Advanced Placement courses and college dual credit<br />
courses. Students can select courses to prepare them<br />
for continuing education at the technical or academic<br />
level. <strong>DHS</strong> has a history of preparing students who<br />
become National Merit Scholars.<br />

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS< ><br />
In order to graduate from <strong>Dickinson</strong> High <strong>School</strong>,<br />
the following units of credits must be met. Students<br />
must also regularly be enrolled at <strong>Dickinson</strong> High<br />
<strong>School</strong> during the eighth semester to be eligible for<br />
graduation. A unit of credit is earned through class<br />
attendance one period per day, five days per week<br />
for one semester and successful completion<br />
requirements of that class. Students will be required<br />
to earn 26 credits for graduation.<br />
