JEWISH PROGRAMMING
WJCS coordinates and designs programs and supportive services to meet the cultural, personal, emotional and spiritual needs of Westchester’s
Jewish community. With sponsorship from UJA-Federation and private philanthropy, we draw upon the broad expertise of our agency professionals
to provide service in local synagogues, WJCS clinics and on-site in institutions of Jewish life.
Clinical, Educational & Spiritual -
• Partners in Caring on-site counseling, educational and informational programming
in 45 county-wide Jewish institutions
• Pathways to Care for people coping with advanced illness or bereavement
• Project SEED helping synagogue nursery school educators to address challenging
classroom behaviors
• Shalom At Home, counseling and education related to domestic abuse within the
Jewish community
• Westchester Jewish Spiritual Healing Center offering solace through Jewish
traditions
Cultural & Social -
• Havorah celebrating traditions and holidays for people with special needs
• Holocaust Survivors & 2nd & 3rd Generation groups
• Operation Mitzvah connecting pre-teens to community service projects
• Programs for Interfaith Jewish Families
• Senior Programs in Mt. Vernon, including the Senior Canteen and homedelivered
Kosher meals
• Tikkun Olam Corps providing leadership and community service opportunities for teens
Emergency Assistance -
• Cash Relief for Jewish Poor
• Jewish Outreach Program providing case management and financial assistance to
low income individuals and families
• Passover Assistance
IN 2008:
• Began development of a Family Caregiver Network to provide assistance to people caring
for older adults in the Rivertowns area.
UJA-FEDERATION GRANTS:
• Provided funds through the Solelim Fund to generate a Resource Guide and develop services
for people affected by the financial and career dislocation of the economic crisis.
• Began TWIST (Teens within Synagogues Today) to advise teens on community service projects.
• Co-sponsored environmentally conscious activities for teens through the Tikkun Olam Corps.
