JEWISH PROGRAMMING<br />
WJCS coordinates and designs programs and supportive services to meet the cultural, personal, emotional and spiritual needs of <strong>Westchester</strong>’s<br />
<strong>Jewish</strong> community. With sponsorship from UJA-Federation and private philanthropy, we draw upon the broad expertise of our agency professionals<br />
to provide service in local synagogues, WJCS clinics and on-site in institutions of <strong>Jewish</strong> life.<br />
Clinical, Educational & Spiritual -<br />
• Partners in Caring on-site counseling, educational and informational programming<br />
in 45 county-wide <strong>Jewish</strong> institutions<br />
• Pathways to Care for people coping with advanced illness or bereavement<br />
• Project SEED helping synagogue nursery school educators to address challenging<br />
classroom behaviors<br />
• Shalom At Home, counseling and education related to domestic abuse within the<br />
<strong>Jewish</strong> community<br />
• <strong>Westchester</strong> <strong>Jewish</strong> Spiritual Healing Center offering solace through <strong>Jewish</strong><br />
traditions<br />
Cultural & Social -<br />
• Havorah celebrating traditions and holidays for people with special needs<br />
• Holocaust Survivors & 2nd & 3rd Generation groups<br />
• Operation Mitzvah connecting pre-teens to community service projects<br />
• Programs for Interfaith <strong>Jewish</strong> Families<br />
• Senior Programs in Mt. Vernon, including the Senior Canteen and homedelivered<br />
Kosher meals<br />
• Tikkun Olam Corps providing leadership and community service opportunities for teens<br />
Emergency Assistance -<br />
• Cash Relief for <strong>Jewish</strong> Poor<br />
• <strong>Jewish</strong> Outreach Program providing case management and financial assistance to<br />
low income individuals and families<br />
• Passover Assistance<br />
IN <strong>2008</strong>:<br />
• Began development of a Family Caregiver Network to provide assistance to people caring<br />
for older adults in the Rivertowns area.<br />
UJA-FEDERATION GRANTS:<br />
• Provided funds through the Solelim Fund to generate a Resource Guide and develop services<br />
for people affected by the financial and career dislocation of the economic crisis.<br />
• Began TWIST (Teens within Synagogues Today) to advise teens on community service projects.<br />
• Co-sponsored environmentally conscious activities for teens through the Tikkun Olam Corps.
