A Carmel Tradition For 39 Years—
Street Scenes Ad Drive Underway—Volunteers Needed For Collection Days
Carmel Catholic High School’s
Street Scenes Ad Drive began
Thursday, August 30th and
extends through Friday, October
5th. This important fundraiser
supports Carmel’s annual
operating budget—providing
funds to meet normal operating
expenses. Funds raised help to
keep Carmel’s tuition lower than
any other Catholic high schools
in the Archdiocese of Chicago.
As outlined in the Student Handbook, each student is required to
raise a minimum of $150 in the Street Scenes Ad Drive. Possible
ways to fulfill this quota include: selling ads, selling admission
tickets, and/or making a donation to the school. Extra ad drive
order forms and admission ticket forms are available in the
Business Office and Attendance Office. Students who do not
bring in the mandatory amount of $150, will have their tuition
account billed during the fall semester.
There are many ways to help your student or his/her class
become the big winner this year:
1. Sell tickets to your family, neighbors and friends; or buy
tickets for yourself. Why not give tickets as a gift to your
secretary, boss or co-worker for Christmas Tickets are mailed
in the middle of January to the address on the ticket form,
so please print legibly. In the meantime, you can give a ‘gift
certificate’ or ‘IOU’.
2. Sell ad space to businesses, colleges, churches,
organizations, etc; or place a personal ad for your family.
All ads are placed in the comprehensive and professionally
produced 400-page advertising directory—given to every Street
Scenes guest!
3. You receive free tickets with each ad purchase.
4. Make a tax-deductible donation. Please ask your employer
for a Matching Gift Fund form.
Volunteers Needed!
We are in need of volunteers, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the
Street Scenes Ad Drive Collection days; September 5th, 10th,
18th, 24th, 27th, Oct 2nd and 5th. Please call Mrs. Collette at
847-388-3377 if you can provide assistance any or all of these
days.
Thank you very much for encouraging your student to do his/
her part for this important Carmel fundraiser.
Strategic Planning Process Completed
At the June 7, 2012 meeting of the joint boards the results of the
strategic planning process were unanimously affirmed. The 2012-
2017 plan articulates issues surfaced by the four focus groups.

Catholic Identity and Mission
1. That Carmel Catholic High School promotes an academic
environment where students question, understand, and
develop authentic faith encouraging a conversion of heart that
allows them to own and live that faith.
2. That, recognizing parents’ role as the primary faith educators
of their families, Carmel Catholic High School creates
opportunities for their spiritual enrichment in the
Catholic tradition.
3. That Carmel Catholic High School nurtures a more dynamic
and collaborative relationship between the school and the
surrounding parishes and churches to foster ongoing spiritual
growth and active parish participation.
4. That Carmel Catholic High School evaluates and updates the
mission statement of the school.
Curriculum
1. Enhance critical thinking within a rigorous, supportive climate,
which differentiates for individual learning styles and abilities.
2. Implement and evaluate effective technology use to empower
students, teachers, and administrators to expand learning the
learning opportunities at Carmel.
3. Collect academic data from appropriate resources to analyze,
make improvements, and communicate results.
4. Evaluate and update curriculum and educational opportunities
to prepare students for college, career, and life.
Finance and Sustainability
1. Evaluate the anticipated need for financial aid and
scholarship for the next five years and compare to the internal
and external resources available to fund that need; develop
additional funding.
2. Increase investment in marketing/admissions in order to grow
enrollment to reach optimal capacity.
3. Increase investment in alumni and community outreach to
substantially grow the endowment and annual fund.
4. Increase and promote the summer program offerings to
prospective students to strengthen exposure in all areas –
athletics, fine arts, academics.
Organizational Processes
1. Implement a centralized, electronic communications
system that is accessible and customizable by internal and
external stakeholders.
2. Develop a facilities planning tool for reserving all physical
spaces on campus.
3. Re-evaluate outdoor space and remedy traffic flow throughout
campus to accommodate growth and all users.
