Second Industrial Revolution (around 1850) — The
development of steam-powered ships, railways, and later in the
nineteenth century with the internal combustion engine and
electrical power generation revolutionized industry.
• The introduction of Frederick W. Taylor’s systematic approach
to scientific management at the beginning of the twentieth century
(1911).
• Henry Ford, the father of the moving assembly line, in 1920,
brought the world into an age centered around the mass
production of goods.
