Revised Notice
Hearing and amendment to application for
transmission development in the St. Paul area
ATCO Electric Ltd. filed a facility application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC or
the Commission) requesting approval to alter and expand the existing St. Paul 707S substation,
located in the southwest quarter of Section 17, Township 58, Range 9, west of the
Fourth Meridian, and to construct approximately 35 kilometres of 144-kilovolt (kV) transmission
line between the substation and a tap point on existing 144-kV transmission line 7L70.
A notice of hearing was issued on May 23, 2013, regarding the proceeding for this application
(Proceeding ID No. 2024). The notice included the date and location of the public hearing as
well as the process schedule established by the Commission.
participants. The hearing will now commence at 9 a.m. on November 5, 2013.
Application amendment:
On June 14, 2013, ATCO Electric Ltd. filed an amendment to the application. The portion of the
preferred east route located on the north boundary of the northeast quarter of Section 29,
Township 58, Range 9, west of the Fourth Meridian has been moved nine metres north onto the
south half of Section 32, Township 58, Range 9, west of the Fourth Meridian. ATCO Electric Ltd.
stated this route realignment was proposed in order to reduce tree clearing requirements and
consequently reduce impacts to cross-country ski trails.
A map of the proposed amendment can be found in ATCO Electric Ltd.’s submission assigned
Exhibit No. 115.
