7. Other scholarly activities: grants, donations, and sabbaticals:
1-Conference Grant from AUC: to present papers at ISCA-PDCS2007
2-Summer Research Grant: to perform research at the High Performance Computing Laboratory (HPCL) at
George Washington University (GWU), during the month of August 2007, Research on “Potential Performance
Improvement of Collective Operations in Current UPC Implementations”. Also attended the IEEE-ICCCN07
Conference and presented the PMECT07 Bayesian Learning paper
4- Google Inc., Google Research Award, June 2007 to June 2009, $10,000, Received
5-Sabbatical Leave: During 2001, I negotiated a Sabbatical leave with the High Performance Computing
Laboratory which is part of School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) at George Washington
University. The laboratory is composed of faculty and graduate students from Computer Engineering &
Computer Science departments. Their research focuses on Adaptive & Re-configurable Computing, Parallel,
Cluster and Grid Computing, and Intellectual Properties. All of which represent important areas of interest to my
research. I spent the academic year 2002/2003 teaching and researching at GWU.
6- Research Grant from the Provost Office to spend the summer month of August at the George Washington
University Parallel Computing Laboratory, August 1-30, 2006
7- Conference Grant to present a paper at The IST-Africa 2006 Conference on International Information
Management, Pretoria, South Africa, May 3-5, 2006
