His first one was a 1974 911 that ended up as a Turbo-look coupe, while his wildest creation in the late 1980s was a 911 Targa with a 959 body kit and a cut-down windscreen. “That was a phase when it was fashionable to modify Porsches,” he said. “but since then we’ve all woken up and originality is now the most important goal. “ Ron’s personal Porsche stable verifies that and includes a beige 1958 Speedster, a white 1964 356C coupe and a 997 Carrera S. But the two that really get enthusiasts’ eyes watering are his new green 997 GT3 RS and its matching track day tow car – his identically painted Cayenne S. The Cayenne was originally white with red wheels and side-decals to match his (then) 996 GT3 RS, but it has since been visually updated with the latest Cayenne Turbo body panels and repainted as an eye-catching promotional vehicle for the George Street, Granville-based repair business. Exclusive Bodywerks became an Official Porsche Repairer nearly six years ago and Ron is particularly proud of the fact that it was the first body shop in the world to fully comply with Porsche’s latest corporate identity programme. “Porsche is 80 per cent of our business and we work as close to the factory as possible to maintain a Porsche standard of repairs,” he said. ”We only use Official Porsche Centres like Porsche Centre Sydney South for any mechanical work necessary during the repair to ensure the safety and integrity of the vehicle is retained.” 8 9

At Porsche, it now stands for a new 911 opus – the 997 Series 911 Turbo Cabriolet that will ‘open’ at Porsche Centre Sydney South in September. Combining the chassis, drive train and handling dynamics of the 997 Turbo Coupe with the sophisticated folding roof features of the 997 Cabriolet has created a unique sports car offering an indescribable feeling of freedom. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet with six-speed manual accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, while with Tiptronic S that time is cut to 3.8 seconds – just 0.1 sec adrift of the Turbo Coupe. And thanks to the Cabriolet’s identical drag coefficient of 0.31Cd, top speed remains identical to the coupe at 310km/h, while average fuel consumption is an excellent 12.9 litre/100km for such a high performance sports car. The 911 Turbo Cabriolet comes standard with all of Porsche’s acclaimed chassis systems, albeit specifically tuned for the needs of the Cabriolet, while its standard list of passive safety systems includes six airbags and comprehensive rollover protection system (with steel tubing integrated into the windshield frame and rollover hoops behind the rear seats). It is also equipped with the Turbo Coupe’s massive six-piston front disc brake calipers, which in turn came from the Porsche Carrera GT. Included in the extensive range of standard features are a full leather interior, bi-xenon headlamps, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, climate control air conditioning, wind-deflector, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with satellite navigation and 5.8-inch color monitor and Bose Surround Sound System. The Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet will retail from $357,500 for the six-speed manual with the Tiptronic S model priced from $365,500. However through Porsche Exclusive, you can tailor your 911 Turbo to your own personal taste, right down to the smallest details.
