In classical music, ‘da capo’ denotes the
repetition of a musical passage. At Porsche,
it now stands for a new 911 opus – the 997
Series 911 Turbo Cabriolet that will ‘open’
at Porsche Centre Sydney South in September.
Combining the chassis, drive train and
handling dynamics of the 997 Turbo
Coupe with the sophisticated folding roof
features of the 997 Cabriolet has created a
unique sports car offering an indescribable
feeling of freedom.
Weighing just 70kg more than its Coupe sibling,
despite additional chassis reinforcement,
built-in roll-over protection and its lightweight
The new Turbo Cabriolet: Opus 911 in C major
three-layer soft-top that can be open or closed
at the touch of a single switch in 20 seconds,
the 911 Turbo Cabriolet offers a similar level of
road manners and performance.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet with six-speed
manual accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in
4.0 seconds, while with Tiptronic S that time is
cut to 3.8 seconds – just 0.1 sec adrift of the Turbo
Coupe. And thanks to the Cabriolet’s identical
drag coefficient of 0.31Cd, top speed
remains identical to the coupe at 310km/h, while
average fuel consumption is an excellent 12.9
litre/100km for such a high performance
sports car.
The 911 Turbo Cabriolet comes standard with
all of Porsche’s acclaimed chassis systems,
albeit specifically tuned for the needs of the
Cabriolet, while its standard list of passive
safety systems includes six airbags and
comprehensive rollover protection system (with
steel tubing integrated into the windshield frame
and rollover hoops behind the rear seats).
It is also equipped with the Turbo Coupe’s
massive six-piston front disc brake calipers,
which in turn came from the Porsche Carrera
GT.
Included in the extensive range of standard
features are a full leather interior, bi-xenon
headlamps, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, climate
control air conditioning, wind-deflector, Porsche
Communication Management (PCM) with
satellite navigation and 5.8-inch color monitor
and Bose Surround Sound System.
The Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet will retail from
$357,500 for the six-speed manual with the
Tiptronic S model priced from $365,500.
However through Porsche Exclusive, you can
tailor your 911 Turbo to your own personal taste,
right down to the smallest details. Meanwhile,
the 911 Turbo Collection from Porsche Design
Driver’s Selection is available from the PCSS
Boutique to provide the appropriate apparel.
