Darren Buckner

Darren Buckner is in his second season as the volleyball
coach at Laramie County Community College. Last season he
led the team to a fourth place finish in the Region IX North
with an 18-12 overall record.
Buckner comes to Cheyenne from the University of
California-Davis program, where he was an assistant women’s
volleyball coach.
He served as the top assistant at Jacksonville in 1993-94,
then later coached at Division II Regis University from
2000-03, and most recently as an assistant at the University of
California, Davis 2010-11.
Originally from Sandy, Ore., Buckner played collegiate
volleyball at Golden West Community College in Huntington
Beach, Calif. He also has competed at the USA Volleyball
Open Championships. Buckner’s coaching career spans all
levels of volleyball, including three nationally esteemed clubs:
Nike NW Juniors (Portland, Ore.), Boulder VBC (Boulder,
Colo.) and Colorado Performance VBC (Denver, Colo.). He
also has assisted with two Portland-area high schools and
served on collegiate summer camps for more than 15 years.
Buckner graduated from Portland State in 2000, earning his
degree in social sciences.
Buckner and his wife Sarah have two daughters, Ryley and
Skylar and reside in Cheyenne.
