Cycling in Tipperary
Tipperary has so much to offer the cyclist.
Whether following designated routes
throughout the county or heading off your
own way through the countryside, you’re
sure to see some amazing scenery and
natural attractions. Just picture a leisurely
cycle through country lanes or mountainbiking
along a rugged forest trail.
Hire bikes or bring your own – whatever
suits. The bike gives you a sense of
freedom you just don’t get otherwise.
Well known routes in the county include
beautiful trails starting in Nenagh heading
out to destinations like Terryglass and
Cloughjordan. Down south, there are
some fantastic cycle journeys beginning in
Carrick-on-Suir.

Nenagh Cycle Hub
The North Tipperary Cycling Routes
offer three loops, all linked and offering
numerous alternatives and combinations
of varying lengths. The eastern shore of
Lough Derg, the largest lake in the Republic
of Ireland, forms the backdrop to a large
section of the routes, while Cloughjordan,
Ireland’s first eco-village, is the focal
point of another route. All routes radiate
from Nenagh and leave the town along a
specially created cycle path allowing quick
and easy access to the quiet rural roads
that are a feature of the cycles.

Carrick-on-Suir – Mahon Bridge –
Mahon Falls – Carrick-on-Suir
A beautiful 38km cycle taking in the
Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains.
Carrick-on-Suir – Crotty’s Lake
At 22kms, this amazing route takes in part
of the Comeragh Mountains.
Keeper Hill Cycle Tour
The Keeper Hill Cycle route is 58kms
circular cycling route to Keeper Hill,
the highest point in the Silvermines
Mountains in Co. Tipperary. The fully
signposted route is designed to be a 1-day
tour of the most interesting sites and
scenery in the region.
Slates and Stars and Silvermines
Cycle Tour
A cycle route through North Tipperary.
The slatey highlands, called the Arra
Mountains, from the lower east shore of
Lough Derg. The route passes old slate
quarries along beautiful lake shoreline
rising to 120m near Portroe.
Holycross Cycle Tour
The Holycross Cycling Tour is based out
of Thurles in Co. Tipperary and is a 45km
cycling tour, designed to give the visitor
a day’s cycling in the eastern part of
Co. Tipperary.
