One Size Does Not Fit All: Evidence-Based Treatments Just as individuals vary in their susceptibility to chronic diseases, individuals vary in their response to treatments. This is true for all chronic diseases including addiction: •For some, behavioral interventions may be effective & sufficient •For others, behavioral interventions may need to occur in conjunction with medication • Different medications may be more effective & appropriate for different individuals 46
