Sport and Recreation Check out the University Recreation Centre Get along to the Rec Centre during Orientation to try a few sport and rec activities such as Zumba, table tennis or even a rowing challenge. Sign up to the gym, find out about upcoming events and register for the Interfaculty Sports Tournament. Rec Centre tours run every 30 minutes. Monday 4 March AUSA O’ Week Your Auckland University Student Association always put on a jam packed week of events and activities during Orientation. Make sure you head down to the Quad during O’ Week and check out what’s going on. More details can be found on www.ausa.auckland.ac.nz but for now, here’s a bit of a taster: Student Challenge Compete to win the ultimate prize....a CAR! Come to the Quad and compete in our student challenge or watch the shenanigans unfold as your fellow students get messy in this comp! Plus there’s a twist, wait and see what the spectacle in the Quad will be! Tuesday 5 March Bboy Beatboxing Day Watch some of New Zealand's top beatboxers and bboy crews compete in this epic battle live in the Quad. Followed by a guest performance from a well-known dance crew and an open floor for all you students out there who want show off your skills. Wednesday 6 March Costume Carnival Come to the Quad to see top New Zealand bands perform, and chill out in the garden bar. Come dressed in a crazy costume and kick off the year at our Costume Carnival Party in the Quad. Keep an eye out for the line-up announcement! Thursday 7 March Collaborative Art Day Come and join in on the creativity as we have a collaborative art piece for everyone to have a go at! Get down to the Quad for the Collaborative Art Day. Friday 8 March The University of Auckland brings you the ultimate free Orientation gig. Start the semester right and get down to the John Hood Plaza at the Business School and check out Mt Eden Dubstep, Ladi6 and Kids of 88. Here’s what some of last year’s students had to say about it: “It’s not your typical leadership course, this one really sits you down and makes you think.” “It will definitely challenge any existing ideas that you may have about leadership. It will also allow you to meet interesting people who do amazing things in life.” Places are limited.
