We would like to introduce ourselves as your new co-chairs,
welcoming all of the parents and carers of pupils who will be
joining the school this year in year 7.
The Association relies on parents who volunteer their time to
help raise money for items and resources within school that
benefit your children and their learning. We all have busy lives,
juggling work and time with our families

On behalf of the QESA we’

On behalf of the QESA I’d like to welcome all of the parents and carers of
new pupils who will be joining the school in September. Our Association
relies on parents who volunteer their time to raise money for items and
resources within school that benefit your children and their learning. We all
have busy lives, juggling work and time with our families, meaning any
spare time is very precious. However, there are many ways that you could
help without feeling obliged to become actively involved as a member of

Our biggest events of the year are our Spring and Christmas Fairs, raising a
total of £5000 last year. They are lively, fun events, well attended by pupils,
staff, parents and the local community.
Year 7 Family Quiz Night
We held a quiz night in October for Year 7 pupils and their families. It was a
perfect opportunity to introduce new parents to the Association whilst they
enjoyed a fun-filled evening with all the family. The evening raised just over
£200.
Jesus Christ Superstar
The outstanding performance of Jesus Christ Superstar was held over 5
evenings at the beginning of February. Cakes, snacks and ice-creams were
served along with hot drinks during the interval. Thanks to our dedicated
team of parents who helped out each evening, enabling us to raise £95.
Kendal College Meal
Committee members, friends and QES staff enjoyed a fund-raising dinner at
Kendal College in March this year. The evening was very successful with
outstanding food and service, as well as being a fun, social event. The event
raised £300.
Year Group Subject Reviews
This Year Parents’ Evenings were replaced by subject Review afternoons.
The QESA has provided hot drinks and home-made cakes at each of the
reviews. Thanks to generous cake donations from our dedicated committee
members we have managed to raise just over £300 this year.

We update our QESA website on the QES homepage on a regular basis. This
will keep you informed about any news of future events, as well as
committee meeting dates and minutes.
2 nd Hand Uniform
We are now selling 2 nd hand uniform. A list of available items is posted
weekly under the Parents’ section on the school website. All monies raised
go to the QESA and are ploughed back into school.
To obtain 2nd hand uniform, please send your child into school with an
envelope and the following information:
• His/her name and surname
• Form
• The item/s requested and correct sizing
• Full payment (Cash payments are preferable as this simplifies and
returns and refunds)
This must be handed in to Pupil Reception first thing on Friday morning.
The item will then be ready for collection on Friday afternoon. Any queries,
please contact Lesley Leadbitter at Pupil Reception on 015242 71275.
Please note: The green pencil skirt, currently worn by Years 7 to 11, is no
longer available for resale.

“200 CLUB”
The “200 club" is just one of the ways the QESA raises money for the
benefit of the school. The membership is open to anyone including pupils.
The annual subscription is £15 and this can be paid by cash/cheque or
standing order. There is a prize draw at all the major QESA events during
the year.
Please do consider joining the "200 club" as we always need new members
as pupils from Year 11 and 13 move on. If you are unable to take an active
role in the Association it is a way of helping to raise money for the benefit
of all the pupils in school.
