Dear Headteacher,<br />
Given the government’s announcement re Primary Languages earlier this month, you<br />
may be looking to build your capacity to deliver PML from September 2014, when it<br />
will become compulsory.<br />
As part of the DFE Languages Support Programme run by CFBT, the SLF has been<br />
successful in applying for some funding from the DfE approved CfBt Education Trust,<br />
and the project QES is leading on offers to support non-specialist class teachers<br />
delivering French at KS2.<br />
The funding will enable us to deliver a series of 5 language improvement sessions,<br />
delivered by a native French speaker, which will provide teachers with the skills,<br />
competence and confidence to teach French as a non-specialist.<br />
The sessions are free to all schools in the SLF and an afternoon’s supply will be paid<br />
to the first seven schools who commit to one teacher attending all 5 sessions,<br />
although we are of course happy for more than one teacher to attend. It is<br />
anticipated the same teacher would attend each session. We hope that more than 7<br />
schools will want to attend, but unfortunately cannot pay supply cover to more than<br />
7.<br />

for the attention of Hayley Martin, Assistant Headteacher, if you wish to participate<br />
in this project, by Thursday, 5 th July.<br />
