How did you come to CAL I started coaching intramural flag football, then moved up to coaching middle<br />
school basketball and football. My son got a cyst on his brain and football was not longer an option. He<br />
wanted to find a fall sport to play so I decided to coach him in golf.<br />
What motivates you to coach The kids by far and away. I get more out of it than they do. It’s great to impact<br />
the lives of young people in a world that constantly pulls them in the wrong direction.<br />
How do you use golf to disciple your players Golf is a great life teacher. There is a tremendous amount of<br />
integrity involved in an individual sport that is played in a team format. You have to lift up and support teammates<br />
even when you don’t shoot a good round. You also have five hours to spend with your competitors.<br />
We talk to our players about impacting others for Jesus during that time.<br />
What are your passions in ministry I have a heart for men’s ministry and discipling young men. I once<br />
thought faith was an individual thing. I’ve concluded that men need other men to challenge, guide, and encourage<br />
each other. You can’t do it on your own.<br />
What spiritual lessons can be taught or learned through golf One mistake in a round doesn’t define who you<br />
are as a player. You are not going to have the best day every time you go out there. We all make mistakes<br />
but as long as you remain Christ centered and look to God’s Word you are going to be OK.<br />
