Name: Jake Nagy
Parents: Paul and Cathy Nagy
Grades attended at CAL: K-12
Sports played at CAL: Soccer, Football, Basketball, and Lacrosse
Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 1:21
College: Biola University, Liberty University, University of Kentucky
Major: Biblical Studies or Missions
Jake plays soccer just like he plays hockey: He's "all in." The crazy
thing is, he hadn't even played soccer until his junior year. However,
anyone who has watched him play can't help but notice the
way he can change the course of a game, just by the work rate,
hustle, and electricity he brings to the field. We would immediately
call for a Jake-injection when the opponent took the momentum
because Jake could usually find a way to reverse it. Whether he's
serving in Akron or Africa, he'll do the same thing in the game of life
as well, regardless of what he tackles -- and we hope he tackles
missions.
Name: Sheldon Wu
Parents: Guy Texter and Dongwei Tan
Grades attended at CAL: 11-12
Sports played at CAL: Soccer
Favorite Bible Verse: John 3:16
College: University of Illinois
Major: Engineering
Sheldon came into the season a few weeks behind his teammates,
but that did not stop him from working hard and earning
his playing time. He brings a dynamic burst on the field
where his style of play compliments his teammates and his
work ethic is second to none. Sheldon impresses by analyzing
the opponent and making enlightening observations for the
team to adjust and succeed. He may have a tender spirit, but
his tenacity on the field speaks for himself. His drive is to never
give up on the ball and I know that will translate off the field. He
will set goals for himself in life and not settle for anything less
than achieving his goals.
Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 1:21, Galatians
6:14, Psalm 73:26
Every time Mason would do on of his stepovers or
other "moves," several of us would ask, "Where
does he get those" But, Mason must be a fast
learner, because he definitely did "get it." He's
quick, street-smart, and he never gives up. Those
traits will help him regardless of what job he takes
on later in life.
