OUR DAILY BREAD FOOD PANTRY - is always in need of donations. This might be a good time to use some of those
dollar coupons that require buying two items. The extra item could be donated to the food pantry. You could be saving
money and donating at the same time. How awesome is that? Think about it. Take advantage of those coupons while
helping others. This week we are low on tuna, canned spinach, red beets, peas and carrots. Also pork and beans, jelly,
spaghetti/sauce and deodorant. However, we will be happy to receive any items you can donate. So, remember to use
those coupons. Thank you for serving the Lord and One Another.
“Jack Lambert - Our Daily Bread Food Pantry Fund. “
Jack Lambert, a longtime volunteer in the Our Daily Bread
Food Pantry, passed away on September 28, 2011. Jack
served with three different Food Pantry directors from
1999 until 2011. When Jack began as a volunteer the Food
Pantry operated out of a closet in Condon Hall and the Director
was Mary Middleton. The pantry opened two afternoons
per week and served 32 clients that year. Denise
Barisano became the Food Pantry Director in 2000 and 209
clients were served. The current director, Evelyn Keesler
took over in 2001. Today, the Food Pantry opens five days
per week and serves nearly 7,000 clients.
Jack served as team leader since 2001. In his capacity as
team leader he was responsible for ensuring that volunteers
on his team were kept informed and available when
needed: frequently contacting CCHASM, the referral organization
concerning clients; three days a week picking
up grocery store donations and driving to Richmond once a
month for the ramen noodle donation! Jack was greatly
loved by all and he loved all those he met in connection
with the Food Pantry.
He was definitely an integral part of the Food Panty’s
growth and was instrumental in setting up the present operation.
He would do anything that was asked of him.
There were times when Jack would threaten to quit the
Food Pantry and this threat became a running joke between
Jack and Evelyn. In the spirit of this running joke,
the Lambert Family has generously donated a significant
amount of money to start the “Jack Lambert - Our Daily
Bread Food Pantry Fund. “
We are grateful to the Family for this contribution made in
Jack’s memory. His spirit of caring will live on as individuals
with needs are assisted by the Food Pantry.
In the future, all contributions to the Food Pantry will be
placed in this Fund. Checks should be made out to “St. Ann
Catholic Church” and designated for the specific support of
the Food Pantry which will help build this Fund and Jack’s
legacy.

A PRAYER FOR RESOLUTION IN IRAN
I pray, we, our community pray, O Lord God,
for a good and just outcome in the discussions that are
currently on going with Iran and five other nations, including
our country. We implore that you inspire each
person in these deliberations to act with a sincere
conscience and a deep respect for humanity.
We ask, Lord God, that the divine hand of your Son,
Jesus, lead the way for all nations to let go of all weapons
of mass destruction---
and for those countries seeking nuclear weapons
who harbor sinister thoughts in the hope of
eliminating their perceived grievousness by acts
of destruction. We pray that Mary, the Queen of Peace,
may shed her light to enkindle greater understanding
among all nations in their hope of living without the fear
of nuclear attack or retaliation.
Each Thursday, from 9:00-9:15am I will invite our community
to join me in prayer in our chapel, and also join
me in a day of fasting for peace in our world —- and for
life that is either denied or taken away from others (i.e.,
abortion and capital punishment).
Gracious wonderful God, we thank you for the end
of our nation’s war in Iraq and the ending war in
Afghanistan. We ask you to continue to comfort those
who suffer loss of life. Heal all the wounded
and bless those who labor for a world without strife.
Bless our soldiers and personnel in these war-torn
countries that they may see the fruits of their labor.
Amen.
