Technical Services Helps Air Force Establish New Air and Space Operations Training Facility
The recently opened U.S. Air Force
Air and Space Operations Center
(ASOC) Formal Training Unit (FTU)
facility at Hurlburt Field, Fla., now offers
improved capabilities for warfighter
training. The Northrop Grumman Technical
Services sector assisted with facility
development effort and the relocation to the
FTU from a temporary facility.
The new 61,700 square-foot facility has
seven classrooms and 10 laboratories linked
by 16,000 feet of computer cabling. The
Northrop Grumman team helped plan and
install the internal network infrastructure
which enables greater integrated and joint
operations training.
Hurlburt Field is home to the 505th Command
and Control Wing, which provides the
Air Force with formal training in air combat
planning, execution and assessment, and
supports advanced command and control
(C2) systems testing as well as exercise and
war game production and support.
Northrop Grumman Technical Services supports
these efforts by providing training services
to joint and multinational warfighters
designated to staff AN/USQ-163, Falconer
Air, and Space Operations Centers. The
company annually trains more than 2,000
soldiers in ASOC technical jobs.
AOCs are responsible for planning, executing and assessing
aerospace operations during contingency operations or
conflict. Graduates of the FTU are serving in ASOCs in
combat zones and in AOCs in Europe, Asia, and the
United States.
