We will be coming to your buildings to issue new
shuttle passes & schedule for 2011-12 academic school
year on the following dates (mark them on your calendar).
If you’ll be away on these dates, you can pick
them up during business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) at
3200 Sawtelle Blvd. Admin. Offices upon your return.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF THE
PROPPED-OPEN VENICE/BARRY
POOL GATE
It has come to University Apartments’ attention that someone is
propping the Venice/Barry pool gate open, which is a safety issue
especially if there are children present. Please allow the self-closing
gate to do its job and close properly.
This practice of propping the pool gate open may be committed by
people living nearby who sneak into Venice/Barry building on hot days to use our
pool. If you see someone propping the pool gate open or suspect the pool users are
not residents of the building, please close the gate behind them and report it immediately
to either the office during business hours, 310-398-4692 or the afterhours
phone number 310-391-0686, or UCPD (call UCPD only in the case of suspected
non-residents using our pool) 310-825-1491.
Venice/Barry Pool Rules
Hours: 8am-10pm
Children must be supervised
at all times
Propping open pool
gate is prohibited. Violators
will be fined.
No alcoholic beverages
or containers allowed in
pool area.
For the safety and security of all of the Venice-Barry residents, please do not prop open
any doors anywhere in the building (if a lock is defective, please report it immediately to Maintenance
or after-hours staff, 310-391-0686).

SUMMER CAUTION: HEAT STROKE
Summer is a time for fun activities under the sun.
But one should take care to avoid a heat stroke,
which is a serious medical emergency.
At-risk individuals are: infants, the elderly, athletes,
and people who work/play/exert themselves
under the sun
Signs of a heat stroke are: high body temperature,
nausea, vomiting, fatigue,
weak- ness, headache,
muscle
cramps, dizziness,
rapid pulse, confusion,
disori- entation, seizure,
etc.
Important measures to prevent heat stroke are
to avoid becoming dehydrated and to avoid vigorous,
prolonged physical activities in hot and
humid weather.
Heat Stroke is a medical emergency and can be
fatal if not promptly and properly treated.
Cooling the victim as well as getting the victim
to the closest Medical Center are the most critical
steps in the treatment of heat stroke.
